Default I Am An Admin

Theirs is a thankless job, and policing a board this size takes a lot of time and a ton of discretion. I have been a regular contributor on a couple other boards and their policies and methods are virtually the same, if not more stringent. I am not a mod, nor do I care to be, I am not the admin, or related to him/her, and I am not a cheerleader for the developer. I think this board is extremely well run, as is the community, and I would suggest that if it is not for you there are lots of message boards and hundreds of other retirement venues from which to choose. I am an admin, not here but on a site for teens, globally as I teach online American Literature and AP English, even though I am retired.

It is often difficult for me to allow posts from the students when they disagree. They live in different countries, mainly children at American Embassies. Therefore I understand some of the positions taken here by others. However we have to adhere to the guidelines established if we wish to participate.

I think recently I have seen some older threads re-established which I welcome as a lurker and soon to be snow bird of TV. Maybe if some of the sages here got together offline and came up with different topics it might help others.

I teach literature, but I have to adhere to frameworks, and I have to include topics in my units based on current, historical, and literary events. I am not sure how you could do it here but maybe it could be some sort of offline discussion and then a presentation.

Just my 2 cents, and truly names are irrelevant

And further more I think a few of you were nasty....Hey Admin....where are you now? I can't believe someone actually gets paid to do this...

crummybuttons - why are you baiting admin??? I certainly have lots of disagreements with their decisions, but don't find it necessary to taunt them. What's up with that?

I googled Crummy Buttons and it is a term for disappointment in any given situation. That or foul-tasting food. I'm just glad to be set straight on the name--I'd been reading it crummybottoms all this time.

[QUOTE=eweissenbach;735743]I am a sage, as you can see from the profile above. As a sage I feel uniquely qualified to comment and my thoughts should be taken very seriously.

Are you really being serious or just joking around?

I thought it only meant a whole lot of time had been spent posting to get large numbers built up. I admit I had no idea it made us wise and added any credibility to anyone's posts what so ever... Good one though...

Personally some of those that post the very least have some of the best insights and I see no correlation between the number of posts and the quality of posts.

Do the other sages out there feel the same?

Yes. I, too, see no correlation between the number of posts and the quality of a poster's writings.

I don't see any need to record the number of posts a person has made, and I especially see no need to assign a title like sage or whatever.

The recorded number of posts and the titles assigned set up a pecking order that implies superiority or seniority for the veteran posters, and I was glad to leave pecking-order and popularity stuff behind in high school.

I think you are not recognizing Ed's dry sense of humor.

If all of US on TOTV ever agreed on anything, it would be such a singular event the world might go off axis. I don't know if there is a "we" here, which diversity I find refreshing.
IMO you came out of the corner swinging and got boxed back. That's just how it goes in a rough neighborhood like this where we have nothing to do but eat popcorn and post with no consequences but an occasional noodle-slap from the admin police.

Actually I am amazed anyone would assume I was being serious. As I have consistently stated, sarcasm is a very risky tool to use on a message board.
