Question Why no dairy queen

When we first moved here we had 2 dairy queens, one on 466 and one on 441. I think they were owned by the same person. They closed around the same time so i suspect their rent was raised because they were always busy and they have a pretty small profit margine. No more blizzards for me until july back in wis. Have to supplement my dairy craving with stake and shake happy hour shakes which are very good.

I have observed that DQ's in other places besides TV are also closed. I don't know what's going on with DQ'S ----competition?

Default Are they gone from all of Florida????

Try this link. I typed in The Villages, Florida also 32162 and then Florida. No locations showed up. Many showed up near our old home in Cincinnati.
Could they have pulled out of Florida?

While some members of the site cringe when you spell Sumter as Sumpter, my cringe is when I read that the business went out of business because of the "high rent". My take is the business was run by a bunch of kids with an absentee owner and the kids were terrible. I lived close to DQ and tried them often. I am certain in my mind that the rent was the least of their problems.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Not a vent, a good response in my estimation, Coach. Who knows why any business closes....it's easy to make assumptions.

Haven't been to a DQ in years....but when we were youngsters....ah, a nice memory.

The closest DQ to TV is probably in Crystal River. There just seems fewer than just a couple of years ago.

They closed lack of business. At certain times they were busy to begin with, then it slowed way down. My company owned them. They also own RJ Gators...
Tell you anything now..

Thank you for sharing; there IS a difference between reality on the one hand and rumor and/or speculation on the other....

Hi Gracie,

I expanded your link to 20 miles out and show one in Ocala and one in Tavares. I would love a DQ. Time for a ride to Ocala.

the owner of the two Panera's in the villages (eventually 3) is Covelli Enterprises. They have recently added DQ to their stable. This was because they operate most of the rest area restaurants along the Ohio turnpike ( they are required to have 2 options at each plaza). If we get any DQ's around the Villages I sure they will operate them and they will be first class. These people know how to run a business. That's why they operate over 240 Panera's in Ohio and Florida

Default Bring on the soft serve!!

I was thinking about DQ today and my mouth was watering for one of their soft ice creams. Do any of you out there prefer soft serve "real" ice cream to hard ice cream? Maybe there are no soft serve stands here because the older crowd wants hard ice cream?? If you would like to see a good soft serve I cream stand here please reply! I would love one.....not a High Five or another Peach Wave. The real rich, creamy swirl ice cream.
