She really has gall.
The only discussion I am aware of is for Eisenhower Sports Pool to replace their Open water volleyball with a Reserved court system. The Open water volleyball was causing a headache for the staff. People were arguing over who gets what court, who can play on their team, etc. If there were Advance players playing during the Open time slot a beginner could not be barred from playing with them. It disrupted the game and was potennially dangeous for the beginner. With the reservation system you can play with fellow players of the same skill level and there will be no arguing over who gets what court. About 2 months ago there were 100 players who showed up for Open play and the pool capacity is 85.

I think Gracie was referring to another poster who was talking about neighborhood pools.

But thanks for the clarification about the volleyball/sports pool.

This is from the October 30th (most recent) edition of the Recreation News in the section on Neighborhood Pools:

"The Recreation Department strives to make the pools safe for everyone's use and enjoyment. The neighborhood adult pools are intended for refreshing socialization and non-organized/scheduled activities. Regularly scheduled water exercise groups are encouraged to used the sports pools for this purpose. Please contact your nearest recreation center and we'll get you started."

If the sport pool at Eisenhower can be reserved for sport activities by individual (friends, clubs etc) groups, then it would be only fair to have neighbor groups allowed to also use Eisenhower for their special needs. However, why hasn't all residents been informed of meeting, when the use of pools changes from what it states on page 3 of the recreation news.

"Regularly scheduled water exercise groups are encouraged to used the sports pools for this purpose."

If people were looking for a loophole, the operative word would be "encouraged", not "required".

Nice email to Mr. Rohan, Cyndy. Let's hope some clarification is forthcoming.

Even after hundreds of posts, I'm still not totally sure if the "rules" allow me to swim laps in my neighborhood pool, or if my wife can take her water weights there and exercise. What if she and I were there together from 10-11 on M/W/F? Does two people constitute a group?

The cliques who go to the neighborhood pool every day and bob around in their noodles chatting for hours are, I guess, using the facility "correctly". But their territoriality and rudeness bother me a lot more than an hour's worth of group water aerobics would.

I can think of few who would face some nasty woman who is running something in a pool and require her to stop. THAT is what makes me so mad. When you aren't supposed to be doing something and the guidelines are laid down, why would it require a militia to stop you? Don't you care about the needs of others? I guess there is nothing to be done. She won't be shamed. I have met her a thousand times in my life in different places and different times and for different reasons and with different names.

In my opinion she is the nurse in Maine.

This is what I want to do and I will do it. What difference does it make?

I agree with you 100%. Spot on. The Rec Dept. ought step up and you-know-what or get off the you-know-what. Don't let these bullies dictate.

Even the nurse from Maine followed the laws in NJ, and finally went through the correct channels for her release in Maine.

The trouble is, CFrance, that "THE VILLAGES" doesn't do bop and drag you.

They do gentle reminders. They are from the Midwest.

No one from the Midwest is ever going to win in this kind of deal.

I understand. I am from the Midwest.

And how can I expect John Rohan to do something I couldn't do in a million years?

Unless it was my kid. They called me "the warden".

I'm sorry, I just can't buy that. They made specific rules that we all signed on to when we bought. It is their responsibility to keep a bunch of bullies from breaking those rules to the detriment of the rest of the homeowners who only want to enjoy things the way they were laid out in the rules.

Somebody needs to play warden here.

It may change, now that Gary is gone.

A new broom, and all.

I doubt it. Mark pretty much ran the day-to-day, anyway.

Just your guess which is as good as mine.

You show me one living soul who can tell you how this place is run and I will eat your hat. We all know, kind of, that Mark builds the houses, Jennifer sells the houses and Tracy makes everything beautiful.

I hope that without their dad that they will be able to continue in the same way.

Mark would give the state of the Villlages address, but they are all brilliant in their jobs and who can imagine how it would be here without any one of them. They could have all quit at any time and lived several lifetimes on their earnings but they chose to continue.

John.Rohan@districtgov.org
So confused, why can an exclusive group (eg. volleyball per email that was sent to you), be allowed to reserve the sport pool and not other exclusive groups? Other exclusive groups have to rent the pool if they prefer to play an activity on their own. The recreation paper states that a resident does not needs to sign up for sport pool programs (eg volleyball) and no courts are reserved. When were ALL resident told or given the opportunity to partake in this meeting that has changed how all the sports pools will be used?
