It is not TOTV who is "denying you the privilege of (neighborhood) pool use" for exercise. It is The Villages. When you live in a community with rules and restrictions, and you "do not wish" to follow some of the rules, the way to proceed is to contact the people in authority and get the rules changed. Until then, its not (or it shouldn't be!) a free-for-all where you pick and choose the rules to follow.

Just curious, Silver Fox...what constitutes a "small group," what days and hours is your "small group" in the pool? The weekly Recreation news is very clear about pool uses. Serious lap swimmers can swim laps in sports pools during lap swim; people who wish to exercise may do so at sports pools during exercise hours, and people who wish to stand around, float in noodles, doggie paddle, etc., may do so in neighborhood pools. The fact that people in the neighorhood pools will usually get out of the way of the occasional lap swimmer is, well, neighborly. A group of people exercising in a neighborhood pool at set times and days is an exercise class.

I do not ever use a pool.
As a matter of fact, I don't even own a swim suit.
Consequently, I feel I am 100% unbiased on either side.

Okay Silver Fox . . . You say "a small group of women." If it's more than you and one friend, I'd say you are infringing upon the rights of every single person in your Village who chooses to use the pool. Frankly, no one cares that your doctors are pleased. Regardless of what you think, you are being selfish and care about no one other than your "small group of women!" You and your little group need to use the pool designed for your purpose. OR -- build your own pool and no one can or will object to what you do.

You are a "group" and don't infringe upon anyone else's space in the pool? You actually think that a 5" x 5' or so noodle "encompasses" most of the pool space? Surely you jest!

Sorry, madam -- you have blinders on.

Rules change all the time. If you want to do aerobics in a neighborhood pool then seek either a rule change or a clearer interpretation of the rule. Don't let people discourage you from doing an activity that involves a group of your local villagers. A lot of people who comment on this board spend all their time on the computer and don't even go outside, let alone swim in the local pool.

There's that sense of entitlement in action - again!

BTW silver fox, I'll bet your doctors would be even happier if you trained and participated in Triathlons!

You would not have to worry about being amongst "the masses" either, since you would be in a rarified group fer sure!

I've been here in TV two years and I've never seen people having to stand in line to do water aerobics ot large masses of people preventing others from getting an exercise in. There are plenty of sports pools and hours in the day to get your water exercises done.

How in the world do you know this?

Being a little presumptious, me thinks!

No, HappyDazed, the rule will not be changed because it is not fair and does not favor the majority of people in any given Village. The interpretation of the rule is very clear, but I guess you haven't read it.

There are places designed to do group things in a pool, but it is not in your community pool. If you don't like the rules, don't go!

One doesn't have to go to the pool to know what the right thing to do is, and as far as people who comment on this forum spending all their time on the computer and don't even go outside, it seems you are grasping at straws to make your comment believable.

Do you include yourself in this sweeping generalization?

It is so easy to draw out the frequent posters! They are experts on everything, have an opinion on everything, and feel that they are the only ones that have an opinion that is correct. They quote your post and attack each phrase. Who wants to hear from the same people all the time? No wonder many people are gun shy about posting on this site. They are in fear of being attacked. The bullies are not doing aerobics at the neighborhood pools they are the frequent posters on this site!

Seems to me, pulling out the 'bully banner' is getting old. It doesn't apply anyway.

Bottom line is:
The Villages has some rules. Most follow the rules, even if they are not as 'convenient' as they may like. They see the broader perspective of why the rules are in place.

Some don't give a rat's patootie about any broader perspective.
They prefer to do what THEY want to do- they have no desire or intention to follow rules they don't like…. and don't welcome anyone voicing their opinion in the matter, either.
They will do it forever, pounding the square peg into the round hole-even if it ruins friendships, alienates people and leaves a wake of debris behind them. It is their lifestyle and none of the residual effect matters to them.

Ahhh, what schmoes some mortals be.

PLEASE do not direct comments at other users we do not want to close threads that get too many of these types of violations in them.

Thanks in advance.
