We live in Santo Domingo and have a Trane A/C. The evaporator coil has been replaced four times in seven years. If you don't buy the extended warranty you will regret it. According to the techs the method of coating the coil was changed for environmental concerns and they start corroding and have pin holes that leak freon. The first time it happened the bill was, as I recall, almost $1K, but Munn's gave me a break and let me buy the extended warranty and pay only part of the cost. I'd like to know which brand of A/C to replace this unit with when the warranty expires. I think I have two more years of coverage. :'(

Does anyone know if ALL Tranes have this problem, or just certain models?
