I've never paid more than $40 for a one-way to MCO... I have paid the $10 extra for gas, so I don't have to stop to fill up, but that brings it to $50.

It bothers me a little that the discussion about getting from the Orlando airport [MCO] to The Villages seems to inevitably reflect the real bottom line!

In the Big Picture, why does a dollar or two really matter?

If I go away for ten days, the out-lying parking will cost me about $100, plus tolls of nearly $12 and plus the cost of gas and wear and tear on my car; that is, something close to $125. On t'other hand, the Villages shuttle will add up to at least $60, plus another $10 for "at home pick up," as well as gratuities of probably $5 each way, thus a total of about $80.

It is, in fact, a very hard detail to nail down; however, I am strongly inclined to believe that using a commercial service (such as the Villages Shuttle) will be cheaper in the long run as well as less trouble! That said, one must be very careful to be sure that you aren't locked into a non-refundable where-is-your-car situation!

I will be renting in November - if the shuttle drops and picks up at LSL - what are suggestions for getting to and from unit. Is there any service that goes just from LSL to desired village neighborhood. Or is the solution to take the service that makes up to 10 stops, but DOES door to door. Trying to arrange a plan.

I've used both and although I prefer the seating in The Villages Shuttle, The Village Airport Van is much more convenient as I don't have to try to book my flights to accommodate their schedule. That in itself is worth more to me than the very minor inconvenience of multiple pick ups/drop offs and van seating versus two person shuttle seats.

It's a little more to rent one-way from MCO --> LSL, but no waiting for a shuttle or stopping 10 times before you get home.

Just another option you might consider...
When you do that, do you have to drop off the car somewhere on your return and then make your way back to your house, or...? I mean, enterprise delivers, sort of, but would this be a pick-up and drop-off from and to your residence?

We are trying to find the most convenient way to get to MCO and back over Christmas holidays. You can't beat having your car at the airport unless you have a private car transport you door to door. We've wondered what the difference in price would be for a two-week trip between paying for parking and having a private car.
