Always check your county permit requirements.

Question: several call me OP when answering my thread. That doesn't bother me, but I don't know what it means. Could someone please tell me? Thanks.

Your house, your choice. Still a free country if we can keep it. Replacement does not require any permits or permission. Good luck!

Is there any way to send me the name of the contractor you used without breaking the rules here at Talk of the Villages? I will try to send you a private message through a Talk of the Villages app, but I am not at all sure how that works. There are so many smart-aleck people trolling this site, trying to show how superior they are to mere mortals, that I hesitate to put my email address on here. Perhaps another user can tell me how to communicate with you privately.
Just click on the poster's name on an original post (underlined), and it will give you the option to send a private message.

Why not just call where permits are issued instead of getting info that may not help you - plus save time on this site?

I just had a Rheem gas water heater (xg40t06ec36u1) replaced for $950 but received a $350 rebate from TECO. So, $600 net cost to have a new 40 gallon water heater with expansion tank installed by a licensed and insured professional.
They have a list of rebates on their website.

$1,900? You can buy 40-50 gallon water heaters at Home Depot for about $500 to $700.

OP could mean Old Person. But it doesn’t. I have decided, based on context clues, that it means Original Poster.

Simple answer is talk to your county buding department for what they require and talk to Architecture Review Committee for exterior changes. Call the district office 352.753.4508 and the will give you the numbers or connect. Of course you can also look in your Villages phone book, the first 40 or 50 pages.

Wasn’t able to figure out how to send you a personal message LOL. But I am interested in hearing about your friends house for sale. As I’m looking for 1. if you want to give him my message. My email is jparsoneau@aol.com

Yea, I changed a capacitor in my heat pump or air conditioner to save $100.+. But you’re right if a barn yard maintenance man does his own work they might end up hiring a expensive maintenance repairman. I agree with what you said!
