I stream radio stations on my computer using a wireless headset. I can walk around the house and out in the yard and garage without disturbing anyone by turning up the volume. iheart.com is one of the websites I use.

I live in Bonita, and have excellent day-time AM reception, matter of fact I can easily listen to Orlando, and Jacksonville stations (540 & 690). As was stated in another post, all AM stations must "power down" shortly before sunset and power up shortly after daybreak. This is due to AM being amp modulated vs freq modulation of FM. If stations don't power down their signal will do what we called atmospheric skip and blow out other stations across the country if they send more watts out in their signal. Hence when you hear stations talk about being a 50,000 watt "blow-torch" that is what they are referering too.
