Does anyone know the name of the 2 palm trees on each side of the front of Havana Country Club? They're very distinct, there's about 4-5 very tall & thin trunks with clusters of "bushy" palm bushes at the base of the trees. They are beautiful and I cannot find out what their name is. Thanks!!

I think the two palm trees are named Steve and Mike.

Do they look like this?
![]() If they do they're called Royal Palms. If they don't look like this then I'd check out this site as you will find lots of pictures of Palms from around the world here: www.seedman.com

Here's a pic from the Havana Country Club website...it has a partial picture of the palms in question.
Website: http://www.havanacc.net/ By the way, I've had lunch there today and yesterday. So far, both meals were wonderful. Had Tequila Lime Chicken meal yesterday, and split meals (Burger and Chicken Pizza) today. Very good burger; pizza was tasty too. All others I've dined with also enjoyed their meals. We still need to try it for dinner. ![]()

I don't think that those are the palms that the OP is talking about. I'm pretty sure they are referring to the ones that look like tall group of asparagus spears with palms that look like hands with fingers spread apart. (real descriptive, eh?) They are all the way to the left of the building and not in view in the picture. And I too would love to know the name of them, as they are so graceful and unusual!

The picture in Villages07 post?
I think that is not a palm, really, but a type of cabbage relative. Honest. |

Tony - no, no, not the short ones.... these palms that the OP and I are trying to describe are very tall. The ones in front of the Havana are probably 15 - 20 feet tall, and they are all in a clump. I don't know if it is only one plant with many stalks, or several individual palms planted together to appear as one plant. The Havana's palm is a mature plant, as I have seen them a lot shorter, about 8 - 10 feet tall.
I have looked in Porter's on 441 for them, and also on the above website link, and I still can't find out what they are called. ![]() |

We have a palm that has several stems (trunks) and has palm fronds that look like fingers. It is called a paurotis palm. We think it looks sort of "jungley." You could look that up and see if it is what you are talking about.

Is this it?? The picture of it doesn't do it justice, very unkempt and hard to see the trunk. This is a picture of the paurotis palm. I'll ride over this morning to see what it looks like but I don't know how to post pictures, sorry.
