Default Another Accident

Driving down Buena Vista this afternoon I passed an accident in a "ROUND ABOUT" near the Bonny Brook Entrance. When are people going to learn how to drive in a round about!

Probably three days after all roundabouts are removed.

I know that it may seem alarming but a town with a population of 65K is going to have MANY accidents whether there are roundabouts or not. Probably not a significant statistical oddity.

I posted the flier that Florida put out on driving roundabouts on the bulletin board at our postal station. A day or so later, I overheard one guy saying "Damn thing doesn't make senses! I'm just gonna keep driving in the right lane. Can't go wrong there."

As I said before, you can always tell a Villager but you can't tell 'em much. But Russ, you're right about the frequency of accidents. This is a big, populated area.

Growing up in New England the roundabouts (called 'rotaries" there) are everywhere and you just get used to them at an early age. My spouse (a Pittsburgher by birth) was apprehensive about them and has made a few references to Paris' Arc D'Triumphe and driving around that!
After a while, you just "know" what to do with them, when to enter, how to exit, etc.

I kinda like them - nostalgia....

As I always say Florida's Friendliest Home Town unless they are behind the wheel.

Maybe it comes with aging....the forgetting or just out and out I'll be da _ _ed if I will yield...there are to few who understand or care that the right of way is yours to give not to take.....here in TV it is oh yeah...not if I get it first.

More cops....more tickets.....compulsory capability testing after a certain age...there are lots of 'em that just for the sake of safety do not belong behind the wheel.

Anyway, it ain't the roundabouts, it's the driving attitude pure and simple.
