When I pass through these intersections, I always slow down to where I could make an emergency stop within a few feet. It's called "defensive driving".
Bingo!

I would like to hear more about the driver exiting the tunnel. Did they stop and render aid? Is there one of those wide-angle mirrors on the wall to help tunnel traffic to see better when they exit? Were these young guests out for a joy ride or Villagers who were probably distracted by talking. Whatever the excuse, there is none for exiting a tunnel without looking.

I found driving a cart is no different than a car. Defensive driving, neither driver used any. I don't blame the driver going through straight, but if they had slowed and had their foot hover over the brake as they entered the downhill path, they probably wouldn't have to swerve causing the cart to flip.

There is plenty of blame for the tunnel driver, and any tickets should be coming their way. The only excuse could be the bright sunlight temporary blinded them, but then that's another reason they should of stopped at the hold line instead of busting out into a cart path without looking.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Gracie. We are renting a villa in Osceola Hills while we decide on our next step. After doing a LOT of research, we thought we knew all about TV before we got here, but it is even nicer than we expected.

We look forward to meeting all of you at the next meet & greet at Crispers.

Glad you are here. There is only so much research that you can do from far away. I hope you made a list of top priority issues to check out personally. Have a good time.

In my view more people here abstain or are very limited in drinking alcohol.

Please do not leave an impression with others that we are all boozers when it is confined to the few. For one thing our blood pressure can't take much caffeine let allow alcohol

Yes, thank you. Sometimes it seems as though the people who do not have a home in the Villages have more to say about what it is like than folks who own here. Envy is still a sin.

A golf cart came from the tunnel without stopping and exited the tunnel immediately in front of a cart passing thru.
Sadly the driver hit the raised curbing flipping his cart on it's side and ejecting the driver. The driver had some serious skin injuries, but refused any 911 calls after his cart was righted on it's wheels.[/

Why would someone not want to be treated? Those injuries could develop infections.
He probably went home and self-treated with bactine and bandages.
Perhaps he was traveling and didn't buy travel insurance, or had a high deductible.
Anything we might guess would be pure speculation.

Nah he was probably a snow bird. Don't the gym get the blame for everything?

It would be nice to see full enforcement of DWI laws.
Would be nice if local police conducited OUI test where golf cart trails intersect with the Public roads. I think the results would be most interesting to say the least..Just look at how may empty alcohol containers line the golf cart trails each morning getting more and more frequent

If you truly believe that The Villages is a drinking community and residents drive around drunk,
why would you choose to relocate here?

Retirement communities may imbibe a bit more than working communities.
IMHO, there is no more drinking in TV than in similar retirement communities.

Don't know why the quotes are coming up the way they are but some of you sure have a mean streak. Let me clarify.....

DONH57 posted...Why would someone not want to be treated? Those injuries could develop infections.

I answered his question "Drunk or had been drinking?" Please notice the question mark I ended my sentence with. Which would make my answer something like Maybe, he was drunk or maybe he had been drinking. No assumptions and not saying he was drunk. That's why I put the question but some of you decided to attack instead of read but that is the nature of this board. Maybe try to read more and attack less. For those who think this is not a drink community.....you're just kidding yourself. Happy hours everywhere and drinks that would choke a horse every night at the squares. The first step towards recovery is admitting that there is a problem.

Why did you limit your list of possibilities to "Drunk or had been drinking?" when there are so many other possibilities? That might be at least one of the reasons for the responses. And maybe folks are just expressing their opinions, too.

You explain why certain posts are unfounded, and then you proceed to explain how they're perfectly accurate.

Simple, if I was drunk or had been drinking and was just involved in a golf cart accident and had minor injuries, I wouldn't want to get treated either. I would hi tail it out of there. Didn't know I had to list all of the possibilities so I picked the probable one. Just so you don't jump to conclusions again, I don't drink.

and, there is a difference between expressing your opinion and attacking someone when you have the facts wrong and jump to conclusions. That happens all of the time here. One shark feeds and the others join in.
