Agreed, such paper waste, I wish they would give residents the option to get one or not.

Instead of printing 50,000, just print 1,000 and put them at the rec centers for free pickup by those that want them. That should satisfy the full need and will save 49,000 going out in the trash. Oh, put it on-line also.

Granted, probably 50% of the production cost is covered by the advertising, but we're paying for the rest.

Default Another Village Phone Book

Go to this website and you can opt out of the Village Phone Book along with others.
You will need to create an account, but I no longer get the Village Phone Book, or any from Marion County or Ocala.

Opt Out of Yellow Pages, White Pages & Phone Books Delivery, National Yellow Pages Opt Out Site

I do not think that registering on that website will prevent The Villages phone book from being delivered to your house. The only phone books listed on the site as being eligible for opting out are those published by Dex Media. The Daily Sun circulation department told me that they don't know anything about an opt out procedure, and that they publish their own phone books, not Dex Media. Also, you would need to provide the website with personal information that could result in you getting even more unwanted junk mail or other advertising.

OMG!!! Why is everyone so bitter??
There is a lot of information for new people in there. I liked the fact it’s also seperated by state. I can look for a few people that I heard moved here. Just when you throw it out… there’s something you could have found in there.
Why are OLD PEOPLE SO NEGATIVE??

I think it would cost more money to print 1000 because they would need to greatly reduce the advertisement price. The advertisers pay for the phone books.

Default if you don't use toss it

just because you don't use it doesn't mean it shouldn't be provided, many people use it, if you don't use it you're free to get rid of it

You might want to look at the first 20-30 pages for some useful information.

I really do not understand why I need to accept someone dumping a directory on my driveway … and then why I need to pay for disposal. If I went out and dumped a pound of paper on 50,000 driveways, there would be an uproar and the police would be tracking me down.

I believe that I am receiving 3 different directories per year. Does anyone know who is distributing these? Has anyone found a method to “opt out” of the distribution?

I think they hire people to drop a phone book on every driveway. It would be too expensive to ask them to verify each address and exclude those who opted out.

I'm more interested in: I need to pay for disposal.
