Question Any plans for the villages own post office?

Does anyone know if the United Postal Service is planning to give the villages it's own post office and zip. It seems with 100,000 planned that it would need it. I read on here that they are using a subcontractor for delivery.

Default Tv po

They've been talking about that for ten years. The answer was to build a new PO in Lady Lake.

The USPS has said "no brick and mortar in TV". End of conversation.

Given the financial difficulties the USPS is having, not a good time for new P.O. construction.

There are full service P.O.'s on Rt. 25 near the intersection with 27/141 and in Wildwood in the strip mall on 301/ Main St. where the sheriff's office is located.

And a small office in Oxford, just a bit north of CR466 to the west of US301. Always less crowded than Lady Lake, especially at Xmas.

And, don't forget a drive-up mobile service in front of the Sweetbay store. Tuesday and Thursdays, I think. Limited service but handy.

Default Yeh, good idea!

Yeah, thats a good idea. Lets have a PO in a town of 3-500. But the very next town of almost 80K, we will have nothing. Why I got out of government work!!!!! Yikes ........

In fairness, you need to remember that TV is spread out through three counties and has at least two separate zips as it is (one for the Lady Lake area north of 466 and one for TV itself (although many in the 32159 area use 32162) -- can't figure out why Marion County doesn't use a Marion County zip, but apparently doesn't). Whether we had a brick and mortar or not, delivery would still be by subcontract to the mailboxes. If you're hoping for home delivery, that will probably never happen.

Not having home delivery of mail is the only complaint I have living in TV. I maybe get around to collecting my mail at the boxes once or twice a week only.
It would be great if at least had drive up mail collection boxes. There is only one that I know of and that is by the Sheriff's office on 466. Does anyone know of any others?

There is a U.S. Post Office, Fruitland Park, which is just down 466A (turn left at Colony Plaza) It is right before you reach 441/27 on the left side just before the traffic light.

Default UPS store in Spanish Plaines

You can buy stamps and mail first class items or parcels (not flat rate or express mail) at the UPS Store in Spanish Plaines shopping center (next to the Hospital/behind Denny's/across the street from Lowes on 441 - in the old Albertson's shopping center)

I have been here eight years and in the past six years I can count my trips to a brick and mortar PO on one hand. Walgreen's sells mailers. The ATMs at the mails stops sell stamps. You can fill out one of those orange envelopes and the mail person will put the stamps or whatever in your mail slot the next day.

The Marion county of TV consists of 1500 homes. Why would we need our own zip code?

I think that 32162 was to be used for The Villages. It was started just about the time I got here in 2001. 99% of the sites I went to that wanted a zip code did not even recognize it at that time.

If you go to http://www.zipinfo.com/search/zipcode.htm and enter The Villages. Fl, you will find that there are now three zip codes, 32159, 32162, and 32163. 32162 and 32163 have different latitudes and longitudes.

Another problem we have in Marion county is that we are in congressional district 6 and have Stearns for a rep. When I try to send a letter to him, I am told I am in the wrong district. When I sent it to Ginny whats her name she told me I was in the wrong district.
