I have worked Shift work as a RN for far too long. My normal "bedtime" is about 0300, and wake about 1000. That is one thing my hubby is determined to change when we get to TV full time. He is gonna be a Drill Sargent, I'm afraid!!

I normally get up at 4:00 am in the Villages and 6:00 up north(Ohio, currently there). Last night I set my alarm clock ahead an hour and I forgot it also has the feature to advance it self... I was up walking around at 4:30 and my half asleep wife asked me " do you think you are in the Villages?"

Ever since we retired, we are both up early.....between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Obviously, beginning the day so early leads to an early bedtime as well. Truthfully though, mornings are a beautiful and peaceful time.

I think naps become common at our age also........although we used to get a kick out of our elderly neighbors "napping" at barbecues, etc. or at parties........now we know why.

We had one sweetheart of an elderly neighbor who , I swear, would nap while driving us to the airport for our trip to Disney World each spring school vacation.........he'd laugh and say it was because he was up so early at 3 a.m. each morning........and he was a farm boy who had to feed the chickens when younger.

What is nice about retirement is that it doesn't matter what time schedule one keeps.

If I am up at three, it is usually just to pee.

For all those people who wake up to start their day at 4-5 am, With therapy, we can help you. For the rest of us , my legislative petition states that all hours before 10:00am are to be declared illegal, and for those who are not yet retired but still working, Mondays are to be eliminated.

Looks like there are quite a few of us night owls. I have always been this way. Even on work days, I am up until 1:00 am and up at 7:00 to get ready for work. 3 or 4 on weekends. Sometimes I wish I were more of a morning person, but at this stage of my life, don't think I can change now.

Default early riser

Love the early morning hours but not 3:00 am....I am blessed to be a great sleeper. However I don't think I ever switched over in the fall at daylight savings so I was getting up at 5:00 now it is more like 5:30 or 6:00.

Mornings are full of possibility, quiet time for me....not my husband tho. My mind is totally awake when I wake up!!!!

I'm exactly the same way, a night owl with a wonky Circadian Rhythm. I've tried to reset my internal clock, to no avail. I've tried Melatonin, naps, magnesium, . Now I just accept the way I am. I find that as I age, I need less sleep, and I'm rarely tired.

The Bubble is definitely a morning community, with many exercise classes happening at (yikes) 7 AM in the morning. I do enjoy my late night walks when all the houses are dark and everyone is tucked into bed. And it's fun to visit TOTV in the middle of the night to check which of my fellow night owls are logged on.

Late night walking sounds like a great idea, I think I would love to do that, but don't know if I would ever be brave enough to go out walking in the wee hours of the morning, interesting idea though. I know TV is probably very safe, but it still sounds scary.
