Default Anybody Install LeafFilter gutter guards

Has anyone installed LeafFilter gutter guards. Do they work? How much did they cost? Can you estimate the price per foot from your bill? I'm going to need something soon since the oak trees are dropping their leaves in my gutters.

Back up north, I had an attachment for my lawn blower that allowed me to blow out the gutters without the need for a ladder, I did need a hat and goggles. Cost was well under $40, and to do both the front and back of the ranch style house was around 1/2 hour. I offer this as a possible alternative, or a short-term solution until you decide what to do. Only word of caution, do not do this after a shower, you will get wet and dirty.

Thanks, it a good idea, but I am trying to make the house exterior maintenance free. Usually I had the crew that trimmed my landscaping go on the roof and clean them out, but I realize that is too risky to continue.
With so many ads for LeafFilter on TV, I was hoping somebody in The Villages gave it a try.

OP, I have not installed the LeafFilter system, but I have heard that the installation is "extremely" expensive, and the installers will try to rip you off. They will quote you a price, but, if you resist, they will cut the price in half almost immediately. They can install this product in about an hour or so, but they will try to charge you thousands of dollars. There is no set price and you need to be very aggressive when negotiating. Personally, I don't like this sales tactic and I would not do business with them.

One product I would investigate is called "Gutter Brush". It is a metal brush type item that you can install yourself, and it will prevent your gutters from getting clogged.

I have a two stroke Stihl handheld leaf blower up north with a gutter attachment that works great, use it for our northern home, the family lake house, and my father in law’s home. Keeps me from having to drag my old a$$ up onto roofs and putting myself in harms way. Unfortunately, our Villages home has a birdcage running the entire length of the back of our home, where all the gutter debris from the wildlife preserve collects. The only way to clean out that very long gutter is to get up on the roof. As far as the LeafFilter gutter guards go, I wouldn’t wast my money on them. The leaves and other tree debris collect on top of them and still eventually needs to be removed to allow rain to flow into the gutters. They may decrease the number of times you need to get up on the roof to clean out debris, but won’t entirely solve the problem.

OP our super gutters installed was installed for birdcage..asked if they had a leaf guard. No but if you purchase at Lowes we will be happy to install.

Lowe’s was $247 install cost $100. With giant live oaks no longer have tons of leaves or twigs. Our wall height is over 10’ so not climbing a ladder to leaf blow.

The install was so easy I used the rest of the box for the front gutters.

I had 'em installed on our house UpNort. Can't recall the brand. Got sick of scraping out the moldy leaves, dead birds and the other detritus that can accumulate in open gutters on an annual (or more often, as we had a lot of trees) basis.

I don't recall the actual cost, and costs down here very often are skewed compared to other cities/states, but they weren't a budget-buster, nor was it a long job. They are sold by the foot: The installer showed up with his van and some type of extruder that gave him the precise length of gutter needed. The hoods come in 10' lengths and are just cut to size. I remember commenting on that and his response was that seams in gutters can leak, or if debris got in the gutter it can hang up on the joint and act as a dam. Those things work very well but are not 100%--things like needles from evergreens can and do find a way inside.

Bottom line, it was worth it.

My home came with them and an oak tree. Removed both and the gutters work so much better.

OP, I had the professional gutter guards put on my northern 2 story home not long before I sold it. I do not have the name or cost because I left the paperwork with the new home owners for warranty. The only way you will know the true cost is to have competitive bids from different companies like you would for other things. I would not go with aftermarket stuff from Lowes unless it was a steel product and good fit. I used this up north from Lowes (someone mentioned it above) and it worked for a while but over time the screen comes unglued from the vinyl and they warp such that it will eventually allow debris to get in. Not to mention anything plastic or vinyl will just disintegrate over time in the summer heat here. If you’re really cheap you could hire someone once a year to clean them out for you.
Edit: check your valpak that came in the mail, LeafFilter has 15 percent off.

I have read reviews regarding these leaf filter systems. I was considering purchasing the system for my NJ home with many trees on the property. One thing that reviewers note as problematic, is when the leaves are wet from rainfall and accumulate on top of the filter, the filter gets blocked and does not allow rain to get into the gutters.

Again..........this is not from personal experience, just from what I have read from reviews.

My experience with any screens on gutters is people feel once installed; you can forget it.

Think about this.... Sand, silt and dirt, (although small amounts over time)
will settle on the bottom of your gutter that penetrate through the screens,
and build up around the drain down spout.
It might take a couple years, but they still need to be checked over time..

Have a huge oak tree and had a similar filter. Does not work. Leaves collect on top of the filter and gutters do not work.

All filters stop debris from passing through their substrate, so by definition they will clog over time requiring maintenance.

This is what people don't understand about gutter guards.
