Default Anyone know of a chauffeur service for snowbirds?

Hi Villagers,
I have an unusual (I think) problem. My dad and his wife live in Ocala. They come up to NY every summer to thier home on Long Island. My dad cant drive anymore, but his wife does drive locally. When they are here in NY, they need their car. My dad is affraid to fly, so for the past two years my husband has been flying to FL and driving them up.

Unfortunatly my husband need surgery this month and cant do it.
Is anyone familiar with any type of chauffeur service where someone can drive your car long distance?
Is there such a thing? :dontknow:
Thanks....Im really stuck.

Do you know of family's with college students who go to school in Central Florida? Maybe post an ad in yourlocal paper or in UCF campus paper? (Orlando) It would be better to KNOW the person, but someone is bound to know some college student who is coming home soon and would like to make some bucks.

Will be thinking positve thoughts for your husbands speedy recovery.

You might want to look into the trains. I think you can put your car on them and you ride in the train. The trains are nice with restaurants and things. I think they go to Orlando and as far North as Virginia.

Amtrak calls it the Auto Train...we took it last winter...it runs once a day each way from Lorton VA (outside of DC) to Orlando. It was fun, but I don't think it will get you all the way to NY.

Might try posting an ad on craig's list for the departure city. The postings are free. No telling, though who might actually respond and the vetting required to clear them.

We have a company here in Canada that provides drivers (for a price of course) to drive your car to Florida, and you pay their airfare home. I'm sure there must be similar types of companies in Florida, especially with so many elderly snow birds in TV. The drivers are mature, reliable and bonded. No kids.

They apparently have an office in Orlando.
