I have to say, these posts are making me a bit nervous. Hopefully, my grandchildren and families will be visiting but I doubt if it will be longer than a week at a time. Maybe two weeks during summer vacation.

My impressions (in simple terms) is that when visitors come, you obtain guest passes for them to enjoy the family pools and some of the other activities.

Am I understanding that non resident people as well as people who live around TV (with family living in TV) are using the pools and recreation on a long term guest pass? Isn't there a way to control this?

I checked with the starter this morning and he told me that the families of Villagers that live in the tri-county area (Lake, Marion, and Sumter) using the "in area guest passes" are allowed to play golf on the executive courses. He tried to make me feel better by telling me they had to pay the guest fee. My response was that this still does not help the Villagers get tee times. He had no answer.

This stinks and should not be allowed. Isn't there something the residents can do to get this stopped?
I recognize it was previously noted that "some" residents wanted local family members to have access, but I expect the majority of residents do not agree.

This is absolutly unbelievable! I'm incensed as is my husband! Just to let you know after I read your response I called the Laural Manor Regional Recreation Center and asked if getting the yearly "in area guest passes" was just a convenience and they were still limited to 30 days per year and he said NO. The pass is issued for a year and they can use it all year! No wonder the family pools are crowded and we definitely will be having a harder time getting tee times when the renters come this winter. I wish there were another place that offered the golf and golfcart access like here because we would be out of here. How can they be allowed to change the rules in midstream. Wonder what would happen if we put statues on our front lawn. Heck we just changed the rules for ourselves, if they can do it why can't we?

things get muddier when you realize there is no limit on how many 30 day guest passes you can get for visitors. things are always changing in tv some for the better some for the worse.
thank goodness for adult only and resident only pools.

All you whiners ought to join the POA. I'm not altogether happy with some of the things that go on here, but I don't make a career whining about it. Y'all just oughta chill and enjoy life and what The Villages has to offer ! ! You think it's bad now, wait until the snowbirds (pardon me, seasonal residents) get back. Ain't nothing here to spend energy griping about. Life it too short not to enjoy it ! ! !

Reading your comments is amusing ! ! !

IN THE "ASSOCIATION" THAT I BELONG TO IN OHIO HAS ITS PROBLEMS JUST LIKE THEY DO DOWN THERE. IF IT IS NOT ONE THING IT IS ANOTHER. YES, WE CAN YELL AND SCREAM UNTIL WE ARE BLUE IN THE FACE OR WE CAN JUST ACCEPT THE FACT THAT STUFF DOES HAPPEN AND WE CANNOT CONTROL EVERYTHING. I KNOW WHEN WE GET TO TV THAT EVERYTHING IS NOT GOING TO BE PERFECT. I WISH IT WOULD BE BUT IT WON'T. BUT I WILL ENJOY EVERY BIT OF BEING IN TV, WITH OR WITHOUT PROBLEMS. TAKE CARE THE KAR GUY.

Your right chacam maybe I should drop out of the VHA and join the POA. It is not whining when you stand up for what is right, it is protecting your investment! Personally I have no problem with seasonal residents because they are paying their way all year long and only enjoying TV parttime. Our home was empty for a whole year before we were able to move here and we had no complaint paying for what we purchased and it's upkeep. You have a weird sense of humor.

The POA has already addressed it. And it will be an ongoing issue. Prior to this year, I had no problem getting tee times in the "off season" no matter how many points I had. Now I am either not accommodated or assigned tee times in the 11:00 range. Very hot at that time. I am not sure how many "in-area guests" are getting some of the better times but onewould be too many for me.

Personally, chacam, I do just grin and bear it. You are right - there ain't much I can do about it and there is no better game in town. Chill out and have a Bud!

you have to be a relative of a village resident in order to get an in area guest pass. a relative would be son or daughter or grandchild. and you have to be with them at all time, any violation and pass is taken away. a friend cannot get a guest pass. a guest pass enablkes them to use all of the facilities. I know all of this because my son-in-law has one so that he and I can play golf 2 or 3 times a week. I think this is good, some of you people are very narrow minded

When we moved here we were told that guest were limited to 30 days per year. Why is it that a family member that lives in the area is given preferential treatment? If someone wishes to play golf they can do so on any of the championship courses "without" a guest pass. We the "residents" are the ones that pay the amenities fees and I feel strongly that the executive course tee times should be available to residents first. As a matter of fact I just read where changes to the tee time reservation system has been approved and perhaps an additional change could be done to only allow in area guests to golf the executive courses when or if there are any open tee times available.

in area guest passes are a little differant than regular guest passes. A resident of the tri county area cannot get a regular guest pass.

My son is one of the 307 relatives that have in area guest passes. He plays golf about twice a year and never uses the pools so guess there is really only 306 people. My friends in Ohio extended their stay here from 4 to 6 weeks. We had passes for them for 4 weeks and got extention with no problem.
