Armed robbery under investigation at Evans Prairie Country Club
An armed robbery which took place between 1 and 1:30 a.m. today at Evans Prairie Country Club is under investigation by the Sumter County Sheriffs Office.

An employee of the country club was closing up when he was approached by a masked man armed with a weapon, according to Lt. Chris Hayworth of the sheriffs office.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

A second individual was said to have been spotted by the country club employee, Hayworth said.

Both the of suspects are black males, Hayworth said.

The employee dialed 911 after the pair left.

Detectives were re-interviewing the employee this afternoon to try to learn more details.

The armed robbery remains under investigation.

Evans Prairie Country Club is located at 1825 Evans Prairie Trail south of County Road 466A in The Villages.

I'm so glad the employee had the sense to just hand over the cash and the robber really only wanted the money. Here's hoping they find the(se) guy(s) quickly. Anyone willing to use a gun is even more dangerous and downright frightening.

Bonanza - I would think by now you would understand that kind of thinking brings a ration of s_ _t on to the poster.

On the other hand, I do think it is a shame that The Villages does seem to be becoming a target for dirt bags that want a free ride. Guess we are an easy mark - older folks with money? If you build it they will come???

Where is a good guy with a gun when you need one?

When anything bad happens here, it's the only thing we talk about for days on end because it is so RARE! Just one incident and we go on and on. The sheriff's office eventually catches the bad guys and they go to jail.

This would not be a time to step up with a concealed weapon.

Let's wait until the investigation is completed. It just seems a convenient story. I hope I am wrong but it happens. Now don't go jumping all over me I am just bringing up the possibility.

I'll bet these two guys re heavy marijuana smokers

Speaking of which about two weeks ago the Daily Sun reported 4 residents of The villages arrested for using/selling marijuana. Probably the same guys who were pushing heavy support for legalization on the previous TOTV thread
