Have never heard polka music played. If you don't like it on those days jump in your golf cart and go to Bonnybrook 3 blocks away or the Lynnhaven, and Churchill pools also very close. Don't complain about something many people enjoy on those 2 afternoons for a couple of hours! Go early or someplace else and sit in silence on Wednesday and Sunday. After reading all the posts the people responding are not getting a clear picture - no one is rowdy, it's not kids doing this and it's not a boom box. It's an older gentleman, a nice guy, and the people are seniors not rowdy younger ones. The dog should go if it's barking at people and I can't imagine whose dog that is as the gentleman that plays the music does not have a dog. The person that comes by to check ID's laughs and joins in on the fun of music - MUSIC - folks! Not POLKA music all kinds of music which supplies much happiness in life. Well, that counters the music and the dog - but - is the beer in glass bottles?

I totally agree, I would call the police. To confront people who are drinking and with an "unfriendly dog" would be stupid. Call the police. They are disturbing the police and creating a dangerous situation.

You absolutely should NOT have to leave your neighborhood pool because of others bad behavior. Glass bottles?! Contact the recreation department manager in person. If it is a regularly scheduled gathering, the rec department can easily send someone to witness the behavior and then take appropriate action. However, keep in mind the Villages has a habit of non-enforcement. Best of luck.

Whether the original story is embellished or not, what is most striking is that in a retirement community you have to deal with the same a-holes that you did back in the day in your original state of residence.

These same people made it to retirement, loaded up the van, and moved to The Villages. Some of us thought we had bought away and out of the clown show.

We had an incident last night in our village where a couple returned home around 10 pm with friends arriving in another golf cart and they decided to turn their pool speakers up to 11 and party until 1 am.

These aren't 30 year-olds, they are probably late 60's. For some reason, some people think they are above rules and decency.

Some people are a-holes in their youth, middle-age, and golden years.

Do they not understand that others go to bed early?

Amazing what another person's viewpoint reveals, huh?

Perhaps this isnt the proper forum to complain. Or, are you trying to get someone else to complain on your behalf?

Default Rowdy at pool

Yes, there is music on Wednesday and Sunday. It’s all music from the 40’s to the present. Most people enjoy it and come specially on those days for the music. As for beer bottles, I am one who participates at the Ashland pool and in the year I’ve been here, I have have NEVER seen a glass bottled beverage. The dog has been here on only a couple of occasions and he wears a service collar and belongs to a 92 year old veteran. The dogs that are barking are from outside the pool area and are being walked by their owners. If this is not your cup of tea, please visit the 100 other pools and allow the residents of Ashland to enjoy themselves these 2 afternoons a week.

The dog is a service dog. Pete's caretaker (Pete is 92 years old) brings him over on Sunday with the dog. The dog doesn't bark and does lay next to the caretaker. Some people need to get a life. Barking comes from neighborhood homes. Only 2 polkas on his playlist. HAPPINESS AND FUN IS A PROBLEM FOR OLD GROUCHES!

I am a regular at the Ashland pool. The person that plays the music is a great person. He has a love of music and a great play list.
His selection of music is vast and if you ask him he will play anything, and any type of music you request will be honored.
We have enjoyed the music over the years, and often will go to the pool because we know he is playing that day. The music adds to the atmosphere, and the normal friendliness of the Ashland pool .
We have never heard the music loud , and it never interferes with our conversation , or our enjoyment.
Now if there are in fact glass bottles or any glass, as the original post stated, that just can’t be allowed.
As for dogs, people in the villages take there dogs to many places that they should not be allowed, but that is a discussion for another day.
