No. They taste completely different. Rat meat tends to float in soups and pies. The livers taste the same, but so small, usually just swallow them whole. Plus with squirrel you get the added gift of using the tail for crafts.

On topic note: If you have a birdcage, the squirrels do climb the sides and get on your roof. so trees are not your only problem.
