One of my peeves though is the use of homophones. When I see them I usually conclude one of two things: that the writer is a millennial and thus conditioned by social media to use them, or that he or she is a lazy person over 40.
I had to look up "homophone". I learn so much on this forum. Thank you all for using words I have never heard before.

Grammarly is really good and works across all platforms but is a yearly subscription.

I always care …
because that is what I was taught !!

PROPER grammar, punctuation,

and of course, the Long Forgotten skill of hitting the enter/return key twice to break your thoughts into paragraphs … imagine reading a news article or any published book that lacked paragraphs.

Lack of paragraphs reminds me of that person who doesn’t seem to take a breath when rapidly telling a long winded story.

Folks tend to stop listening
and look for a way to retreat …

… just as when I see a single, 120 word paragraph, I immediately have very little interest in reading through it

Using speech to text, maybe? Not proof reading?

Is this a teacher's union rant!

Im a spelling freak (as mentioned earlier).....but if you're looking for F. Scott Fitzgerald type writings, ToTV wouldn't have been my first choice to satisfy my thirst!

A personal idol of mine is Sir Winston Churchill: I'm convinced that he was not only the greatest person of his age but compares well against the greats of any age. One of the talents that helped him achieve that was his meticulous use of the English language. One only has to listen to one of his many speeches during WW 2, to realize that.

For some reason, I've always remembered one comment of his: "Ending a sentence with a preposition is an outrage that up with I will not put" (or words to that effect).

I always reread my comments because my website thinks I’m trying to say something else. I know someone that always says NO when they should say KNOW. But most people like me knows what they’re saying, but they always always say NO for everything!

Please silently correct my grammer! I am not writing anything professional or worthy of any review for grading / promotions, especially since at best a smelly opinion. Likewise, I don't care about a few fat finger mistakes. There are many examples where the brain can interpret mistyped words within context. . and the amount of education has nothing to do with anything about retirees spelling, especially when using shortcuts, homophones, etc. to make certain points, such as those here. . . . and if you don't like my periods and no caps. . . which represents pauses in thoughts within run on sentences and thoughts. . . . . while i try to figure out if what i said makes sense.. . . .

if you are judging grammer without judging the content concepts and points being made, you most likely are having a hard time / lost in a forest and criticize trees to cover up your lack of compass..

I would agree...to a point. I also use 'dots' so as to avoid overruns. My point is about spelling more so than grammatical. In 'crafting' a post /reply, its just a good look that you at least attempted to read...reread a post before sending. No grading here....if there was, at least a middle schooler would have more time to remediate it before they join this platform some day!

*Don't grade me either SG...on my sarcasm!

Yes, spelling and grammar are important, but there are savants that might not be good at either.
What is more important to me is the poster gets their ideas across.
