"Sumter County is a county located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population is 129,752. It has the oldest median age (68.3 years) of any US county[2] and the highest percentage of residents aged 65 and older—at 55.6% in 2014–2018 (in 2009–2013)."

From: Sumter County, Florida - Wikipedia

Add the population of the oldest parts of The Villages located in Lake and Marion counties and the average population is north of 70, likely in the 72-74 range.

As of 11/30/25 the average age of a registered voter in The Villages was 71.8.
Lake County 69.7, Marion County 74.2, Sumter County 71.9

While not all residents of the Villages, the 111,815 registered voters are a pretty representative sample.

Not 11/30/2025. That won't happen for another 11 months

Did you mean 2024? If you cite your source, we could look it up for ourselves.

Rule of thumb:

North of 466: high 70's-low 80's
Between 446a and 466: low-mid 70's
Between 466a and 44: 65-low 70's
South of 44: early 50's to mid 60's

Not really, since Sumter County has a lot of children under the age of 18. They wouldn't be counted in the demographic of people who are registered to vote. There are also a lot of people who are of age to vote, but haven't registered. Most of Marion County is NOT Villagers at all, and most of Lake County is also NOT Villagers at all.

Approximately 20% of Lake County residents are under the age of 18.
Approximately 40% of Sumter County residents are under the age of 60.
The vast majority (around 70%) of residents in Marion County are neither Villagers, nor over the age of 65.

There are also lots of Villages residents who are from other countries, and not American citizens, and therefore don't get to vote at all in the US. They wouldn't be counted in the demographic of registered voters in The Villages.

This seems pretty accurate.

That is certainly the propoganda villages agents use to push their tightly packed new construction in the south. But is it based on any real data? North of 466 is turning over rapidly and filled with many pre-retirees.

I have nothing to go on but my own observations - and this is pretty accurate as I see it.
