Default Who Cleans Up the Horse Crap?

As I was crossing the Brownwood bridge coming from Richmond this evening, the cart up ahead of me was stopped, so I came to a stop a ways back. Reason: On the opposite direction side, there was a lady riding a horse and her daughter riding a pony. Several carts were stopped behind them and the drivers did not look happy. After the horses passed and we were able to proceed, had to avoid numerous dumpings of horse crap. So horses are okay now?

Well, now we have to add horses to the electric vs. motor cart conversation….I like the horse but I have to stop and get the s%$# off the path and ride it home with me.

I drive through Amish country all the time. I guess I just don’t see it as a big deal. You learn to just avoid it.

That’s a first, never seen a horse on a MMP. I find it very odd and dangerous, horses are spooked easily and shouldn’t be cohabitating with golf carts and bicycles on relatively narrow paths. That’s an accident waiting to happen!

I was just going to post about the horses - I just crossed the Brownwood Bridge a half hour ago and saw the horses. A police officer was at the base of the bridge talking to the mother who was on a large horse. Something I’ve never seen before. I felt terrible for the horses, they had to be freaked out trying to traverse the bridge with oncoming golf carts in the opposite lane.

I don't think the little green pop bags are going to do the trick.

Who Cleans Up the Horse Crap?

Pick it up, put it round your roses and shrubs.
Not Clematis however. They detest the stuff.

This brings back a pretty tough memory - When I was a kid my dad redid our entire lawn, he thought truck loads of horse crap would be great fertilizer to get things going quickly. He was right but he didn't count on the billions of flies we carried in with it. Steamy hot summer in eastern carolina before ac and more flies than you could begin to swing a swatter at.

I have seen people on horses on CR101 in Oxford but never here in the Villages.

Belvedere becomes CR 101 after you cross 466.

You wonder where the horses are kept that they were able to get on the Bridge in the first place. Just when you think you have seen everything in The Villages. Horses Yikes!

The was a horse trailer in the Brownwood parking lot.

The horse people were cleaning up the bridge when we passed through later.

There's some beautiful aquestrian centers around Ocala, so maybe someone passing through.

I'm not in favor of horses on the paths for good reasons already stated. However, if they are allowed, then I believe the riders must clean up the droppings and be required to pup horse diapers on their animal. Just google horse diaper and you can see these are real things. You mostly see them on carriages in towns where carriage rides are given.
