Default Bad Accident - Let's Be Careful out there!

I was heading east on 466 to Rolling Acres when I noticed flashing red lights ahead. Luckily I stayed in my lane and decided to head straight to 441 instead of turning onto Rolling Acres. There was a bad 3 car accident (from what I could see) at around 1:45 today. Rescue squads and police were already there. I hate that intersection, it is bad.

This morning coming back from First Watch. We were on the road behind the hospital heading east. We get to the Morse circle just off of 441. Our car turns right and enters the circle. Car next to us turns LEFT. Luckily not much traffic and one car heading his way saw what he did. So I think they lucked out and no accident.

Yes, we do get mixed up at times, but please watch out for that other driver. Our busy season is yet to come.

I was heading home this afternoon stopped at a traffic light waitiing to turn onto 466, the light turned green and I counted to five and then slowly pulled out. A red pick up truck came barreling through the intersection running the red light.

A poster on this forum just said last week that he waited and counted to five. That advice saved me from being hit today.

Yes, they are out there. Today we were in a golf cart on Del Mar in Spanish Springs heading toward the four way stop at Avenida Central. A car pulled out from the road that goes to the bowling alley and cut us off. They proceeded to the four way stop that had vehicles already stopped. The driver stopped and then immediately proceeded through the intersection without any regard for the vehicles that were there.

Thursday late morning I left the dog park to return up toward Avienda and was turned back by Lady Lake Pd. I detoured around to see lots of fire, emts, LE but couldn't see what happened. It didn't look good.

Gracie,
Many years ago I taught Defensive Driving to UPS drivers and usually intersections are responsible for your worst accidents. The main point is that when the light turns green your foot should not be on the gas pedal immediately. Just look left right left then proceed with caution. Remembering that saved my life and that of my wife while vacationing in Myrtle Beach one year. Scary situation.

I was at the Campus Credit Union today and as I was leaving a car pulls out of parking space without even looking. This car also did not stop at the stop sign just went through it....
There are many senior's in The Villages that should not be driving..( bad eye site. taking meds that cause tiredness, drunk...
We always need to watch out for the other person...

Please don't assume that those who are not seniors are safe drivers. My observations are quite the contrary. The biggest offenders that I have seen are the many, many service people within our community...even some of the ones in official Villages cars.

We all just need to drive defensively and don't get upset when law enforcement writes those dreadful speeding, failure to stop, etc. tickets. The lives they save could well be ours.

Just as an aside: 50 is considered senior. Oops.

Good advice and just ignore all of the honking horns behind you.
