I always "share" my spot (especially on the squares but not always in the outside shopping malls) however my "cart" has regular doors and my "courtesy" often leaves me climbing in on the passenger side crawling over the protruding parking brake lever between the seats which can be quite painful if you sit down too soon due to the fact the person "sharing" with me always pulls up (or back) too far and blocks the very obvious doors. I try to park on the back of the spot but they still always seem to block my door.

That being said there are no published rules requiring space sharing or even published courtesy rules requiring space sharing. If the "selfish person" who wouldn't get back in their cart and move was still in the cart I could understand the OP's frustration but since they already left their cart I wouldn't be so upset and need to make a public issue over it but that seems to be the way it goes here.

Sometimes you just have to suck it up and move on with your life and not let all the little stuff bother you so much. There is way too much BIG stuff we should be concerned with that goes on.

First of all........anyone who can not back up a golf cart to get out of a parking spot with another cart sharing the spot, has no business driving a golf cart.

I honestly was under the impression the proper and acceptable way to park a golf cart here in The Villages was to pull into the spot on one side. It is only after reading this thread I'm finding out differently.

Aren’t the actions of our working lives whereby getting ahead meant guiltlessly crushing those in our way to benefit ourselves. Is this being entitled ? I’m holding my hand up, guilty as charged !
Or, better you than me. It’s the American way [emoji631]

If this were true, there would be a lot fewer golf carts in TV. Sorry ... you can wish for this, but it ain't gonna happen.

I always thought it was common courtesy to share a space, with one cart parked forward and the other parked back, so both drivers could get out easily. By parking closest to the entrance to the space, one wouldn’t have to back up too far. If each cart took one space, the available spaces would disappear quickly.

This driver could certainly legally take the whole parking space. At the same time, I would be annoyed if someone took a whole space in the shade while the temp was in the 90s.

I would be more annoyed if a car or cart were parked in two spaces.

A cart taking up the whole space is the exact equivalent of a car taking 2 spaces. The cart IS taking 2 spaces and the driver is an inconsiderate ahole.

Lines in a lot are put there for a reason; to direct drivers to a safe spot. To occupy TWO spots is unintended and PIGGISH.
No need to cajole her into moving her car to free up the other shady spot.
She is a self absorbed buffoon.
I would have done what writer did.

What kind of job did you have??? If you had to hurt others to get ahead, and have no guilt, I'll pray for you.

From exposure to a previous life, I'm going to hazard a guess and say...a union one.

Which is really ironic, given that unions were formed in part...to minimize that behavior.
