Larry David has a solution for cell phone talkers. From a Curb your Enthusiasm episode. NSFW

No I don’t think they should ban phones in the pool, if you want to take your phone in the pool, go ahead. Should be fun to watch you when you drop it in the water. Also why ban phones when driving? If you crash you probably will get sued and canceled insurance, not my problem!
I bet this will revive this forum!

Poor etiquette would seem to be dependent upon normal expectations i.e. church, library etc.

Obnoxious, loud, abusive, swearing, are judgmental and could be on the phone or not.

If the person is standing still texting interfering, with normal movements, just try the normal civil "excuse me".

Why just ban people at pool….. The ducks are much quieter.

Mainly because that can result in accidents where they kill other people. I don't think a phone in the pool will kill anyone.

The using a phone while driving is not something they can pull you over for (that is stupid) it is a secondary, like seat belts. If you get pulled over for running a stop sign, and you are talking on your phone with out your seat belt on, you get 3 citations.
Well, sometimes, some places they can and will pull you over for talking/texting when driving even if at a stop sign or light. Some places not everywhere.

If you want a quiet place, try the public library. You know, that place that used to lend paper books. They do not have a pool, but it is quiet. You would probably have the whole place to yourself and the librarian.

One more thing this I don’t understand, at the pool, the squares and on a cruise I hear two people talking very loudly about who knows what the funny thing they are people that see each other every day or have been together on the cruise for days, what more can you be talking about? I see people, and you know who you are doing this. Even at 0600 hrs when walking my dogs people on the phone, who are you talking to at 0600 hrs?

Why would you care?????
Enjoy your time at the pool and let them enjoy their time at the pool. It is a public pool for all residents and guests, not just you. If you don't want to see them texting, don't look at them. If you don't want to hear their conversations, don't listen to their conversations. It's really pretty basic, live and let live. Phones are allowed at the pools.

Why not build pools in grave yards?
