Default Exercise times too early

I'm not a real early riser so getting to the rec center by 8:00 AM to exercise is a real challenge for me. Is there anyone else out there who feels the same? Is it an option to ask for some classes to maybe start at 9:00?? I love the class but it is not enjoyable having to get up so early to get there and get a spot by 7:30 or so.

I laughed when I saw your comments on the early time for exercise classes. I love Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds. I probably have at least 40 of her DVDs or VHS tapes. No kidding.

But, I love the classes when I'm at TV. Since I like to get in my protein shake and some water before the classes, I set my alarm for 6 AM!! Yikes, setting an alarm for 6 AM when your retired is harsh.

But, I must say I like getting the exercise out of the way early in the day. And, its cooler!! I just need to take a shower and nap when I get home.

I can't wait to get to TV full time so I can attend the classes every day!

Does anyone know if they have spinning classes at TV. They offer them at my gym in Michigan and they are a big hit!!! They only have so many bikes and there is always a waiting list.

Default Me too

I agree that they start too early. There is a Walk off the pounds at the Captiva center I wanted to try but it starts at 8 am. I don't get up till 8 am. I would love it at 10 or 11 am. I have noticed that many clubs are early in the day. Now if I have to travel a distance, it really means an early rise. I retired after 36 years of nursing. I'd like to sleep in a little. So I guess I'll just keep doing those jumping jacks in my pool.

Join MVP Athletic Club in Spanish Springs. They offer over 150 classes a week including aerobics, yoga, pilates, zumba, spin, group power, group core, etc. Classes are offered throughout the day and are included in the gym membership (no extra charges for any of the classes). All classes are taught by trainers certified by National Association of Sports Medicine. You never have to sign up for classes in advance and as long as you get there 15 minutes prior to class time you get a space in the class.

I've been working out there since February and I love it (it's the best gym I have ever worked out at).

I spin twice a day 5-6 times a week at MVP Athletic Club in Spanish Springs. They have 40 bikes in their spin studio and classes are offered throughout the day (they offer it 5-6 times a day Monday thru Friday, twice a day on Saturday, it is not offered on Sunday). Their instructors are excellent and all of them are professionally certified (most through National Assoc. of Sports Medicine.

No waiting list. I always show up 15 minutes early and I have never not gotten a bike (even during snowbird season).

And I wish they started earlier. I am always up before 5:00 AM and would love to get the exercise done before the sun comes up. So I lobby for earlier classes. Maybe start them at 5:00 or 5:30 AM. Done by 6:00 or so and have the whole day ahead.

If you want a later class, start one. Call the recreation department and find out how to get started. That's how everything gets scheduled in The Villages. Someone steps up and volunteers to run it.

Default exercise classes

I do understand your frustration and I have heard other woman complain also of same thing. I am a gym person so I go around 8:30 or 9 am. For me personally MVP is Not worth the money. It is much too expensive and I'm not a class person but a "gym" person.

There are a few classes that are offered later in the morning. Usually 10 or 11 would be latest. They are probably offered in the morning because the volunteers want to get their exercise over early but I agree not everyone is that early of a riser. I could not do a 6, 7 or 8 am class. Just too early. Therefore gym works for me. I'm off now to gym. Had my coffee and now I'm ready.

For later classes we need more volunteers. That is what makes the villages. Without these people devoting their time and energy to running classes, we would not have what we do. Perhaps just askng around you'll run into someone who is interested in starting exercise class in afternoon!!
I'm sure your not alone and others are not early risers either. Just keep looking and you'll probably find something. Good luck

Default Good suggestions

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I think I will step up and try to start a later class! Leslie Sansone's Walk off the Pounds is a great class and I have some of here tapes too. I could also do the exercises at home but I like meeting other people.

I agree i get to lifetime at home i am in the pool at 4:45am and take two classes after that I want to get on with my day. So this will be split 25/25/25/25 those who get up early, those who don't, those who think about it and those who wonder why anyone cares what time we want to exercise.

I love the early morning exercise classes. I am up every morning at 6:00. A neighbor and I go to a Walk Away the Pounds class at 7:00 5 mornings a week. I love it. I get my exercise done early and have the rest of the day. Different stokes for different folk, i guess
