We personally like either Cocoa Beach or Clearwater...the beaches on the gulf side are very lovely and that actually would be my 1st vote!!

Default what about conveniences though?

I have read all the posts about best day trips to the beach from TV but wondering...which beach is the best as far as parking, restroom facilities, etc, since you only want to spend the day and not an overnight??

we own a small condo on the beach in Daytona so we go there...as far as parking you can park on the beach...there is also parking areas available on A1A and you can walk down. We are on the quiet end of the beach around Port Orange, fewer people. I think there are restroom facilities around most of the parking lots.....I know as I walk down the beach I notice several restroom areas.

Daytona, definitely; even though we love all of the beaches in Florida. At Daytona there are many public restroom areas, even picnic areas (and a fountain playground area for children if you have young ones visiting), up and down the beach; parking is available on the beach. But what we love to do is to park in the lot for Ocean Deck restaurant, then do our beach walking or lounging, and finish up, or break up our beach time, with a snack, meal, or drinks, etc at the Ocean Deck - the perfect oceanside casual restaurant, with great chicken fingers. There is also a hotel with a beachside tiki bar for drinks and food at the hotel next door to the Boardwalk Inn, which is at the main entrance (where the sign saying 'The Most Famous Beach in the World' is) onto the beach from International Speedway Blvd. (There are other beachside bars and restaurants too; these are the two that we frequent).

Default Day Trrip

Daytona is about two hours - a long way for a walk on the beach - but if you check out the holiday inn for about $120 you can overnight in an ocean view room. wake up to a beautiful sunrise and walk the morning beach.

On the gulf side we ran into this beautiful sandspit beach at Pine Island off of Bayport and weeki wachee. about 1 hour from here. has a small snack bar and the white sandy beach. I would like you to write me back and say how you liked this place - we were there when the love bugs were out but really enjoyed this remote beach.

We rode our motorcycles out to Pine Island on several occasions, great ride. Nice little beach, always stopped for a drink at Willy's Tropical Breeze Cafe. Another great ride and great place to eat(their seafood is great) was Pecks Old Cove Restaurant, on Ozello Trail. If you take your bike on this trail be very careful, many curves.

If you go to the travel expo at the Savannah Center today, you'll find a plethora of beaches and places to stay in Flroida.
