What does anyone know about these surrounding cities? Nice places to live?? We have friends that are looking in the area and feel TV is too expensive for them, so have asked me about these cities. Any thoughts??

Wow , That is a very broad request, The Villages has many homes that are available at most Individuals budget. What are they looking for, surely they have some thought. The Villages TOTV can help but really you need to be more specific than your request for help for your friends. Budget, and in particular " lifestyle " we can help ...But ? Need More Specifics..

Stonecrest and Del Webb developments are both north of TV and they are very nice places to live. Belleview and Lake Weir are rural areas, some horse properties but I don't know of any communities like TV that are in those areas. Living on Lake Weir is very nice, beautiful scenery but as I said, very rural.

Check out StoneCrest Community in Summerfield. Three miles from Spnish Springs and not much further to Lake Sumter Landing in the Villages.
Lots of home for the money and still very close proximity to the Villages Town Squares for entertainment and fun.

Thank you. Like I said, guess I'll just have to get around looking, and get them down here. Naturally, I want them in TV, but she seems reticent (until I get them here, probably) and I was just looking for some general info.

The best thing you could do for your friends is find a good REALTOR that will work with them to determine their wants and needs and hopefully be knowledgeable about the surrounding areas to guide them to what would best suit their need.

Yeah, just can't have their 2 puplets...hahaha. Funny the answers you get to the simplest of questions. I just wanted to know what the cities were like, nobody needs to know their budget, wants or needs. Funny thing is, she IS a Florida realtor, just wanted a local take on those cities, she's not familiar with. Sounds like Belleville is nice with the lake property and all. Maybe we can get boats again, that'd be fun!! I'll have to take a ride over and just snoop around. Maybe some day we can go on a recognizance trip....hahaha!!!

We have friends who built a house in lake weir just off hy 25. The developer has 1000 lots but only about 25 houses so far. Many have harleys or motor homes. Compared to the villages, our friends have a 1200 sq ft. house with a very large pool and lania for $155,000. includes granite and tile, private wooded lot. This is the start of the ocala national forest so they have seen bears and other critters. Only a 10 minute drive to mulberry plaza.

The issue I see buying outside of TV is resale values. If one is certain they want to live there for the long haul, then perhaps it is an option worth considering. If one is not sure they will like central Florida, or the rural aspects of the areas surrounding TV, then it would seem the prudent decision is to find a home within one's budget within TV. Having regrets after a year or so, it will be much easier to deal with reselling a Villages home vs a home in a 1000 lot development where there are only 25 lots sold. Granted, nothing is a sure thing, but the history and price movement in TV is certainly a positive.

Don't remember the name, but wife and I drove around there last week, there was an ad in the Daily Sun, inside front page IIRC... Sat or Sunday perhaps 3/1 or 3/2??. It was definitely rural... and we noticed at least 2 foreclosures and/or neglected homes.
Driving N on 25, there is a big sign and some flags directing you in...The roads names all had the word "Bay" in them. |
