Default Bicyclists

Today I actually saw a group of cyclists (probably 25 or 30) obeying a traffic control device on El Camino. That's a first.

Instead of starting a new thread since this is about a bicyclist I'll post here.

Yesterday while I was jogging up St. Charles and turning into Southern Star Blvd I saw a woman on the other side of the street riding a bicycle with a medium size poodle running next to the bike. The dog was on a leash and the leash was apparently attached to some kind of rigging that was part of the rear fender. So obviously her riding along side her dog was something she does often.

My first impression was that dog will stay in good shape, maybe almost too good although she wasn't going fast. I was also wondering if that jury rigged leash could maybe get caught in her spokes. However, the reason I mention this is when she got to St. Charles, I thought she was going to make a u-turn and head back toward the villas or Odessa Circle where there is almost no traffic. Instead, she turned out onto St. Charles and headed northbound in the cart path. All I could think about was that dog is running in the road just a couple of feet from cars and trucks zooming by at 40mph.

If someone knows or sees this woman and that tan colored poodle, would they please inform her of the lack of safety this situation shows. Myself as a driver if I came across that I would be somewhat hesitant in passing her. I wanted to call 911 and make a citizens arrest but I didn't have my cellphone with me and she kept going right up St. Charles without a care in the world as cars zipped right by.
