My guess is that since Gamby wrote this at 1:21AM according to my computer clock, then Gamby is still sleeping it off!

OK now. I'm fine with blood and guts, little creatures like lizards, worms, catapillars and mice. Less fine with bats, spiders and palmetto bugs. But worrying about snakes under my bed may be more than I can take. Maybe Gampy found the "daddy" and passed out, had a stroke or entirely left TV.
Tell me this really RARELY happens in TV because I'm a little "shaky" right now. I want to move there by next summer, but this is the stuff of nightmares.

Sounds like a friendly snake if you can shoo them out the door. Shortly after we retired we had one in our house---neighbor said it was a pigmy rattler---whatever--- killed it with my neighbors shovel while he cornered it with a 2x4. We never did figure how it got into the house.

it is pretty rare. If they get in is it not because the want to get in your house.
They arrived there accidently.

I do not live in CT !
I am a full time res. of Florida.

I did look up the snake and it is a "Southern black racer" I guess they were looking for water being it's been so dry. I think it came in through the garage into the laundry area .
All it was trying to do was escape from me so there was no danger .

Belle Aire area , Snakes do not have a preference as to villages; Food and water is where they will migrate to.

When I move in full time I am putting out a sign (I know, no signs allowed but I'm doing it anyway until someone calls me on it) and it's going to say No Snakes allowed! Ewwww. I hate the thought of it. I WANT to shoo them outside but I just don't expect to be that rational and have the snake sitting there while I try to compose myself. I think I might have to move in next to to BillieTK for that to be possible, or have him on speed dial. They move so fast and are pretty ucky in my estimation. If they come in through open garage doors perhaps I don't even want to open mine to take out the golf cart or car!!!!

I'm with you, SuziQ. I'm also headed to TV next summer, as a frog. I am petrified of snakes. Most people on this bb say they've never seen any. Now I hear otherwise from Gamby. Like others, I need to know more before I forfeit my deposit, give up my lot, and move elsewhere. Just kidding-I'd never walk away from a deposit, but I am feeling very leery.
