We'll have to wait and see how this particular situation works out.

True, a lot of unknowns. But as usual, it works both ways---remember the outrage against Hobby Lobby?

It is more than free speech. You might want to get fully informed, then your opinion may change. Check out the real reason on You Tube. Listen to what their executives are in favor of doing to young children. If you support that type of freedom, then you are in bed with them IMO.

If another Orlando based employer whose property is not a special district (hypothetically lets use Lockheed Martin) takes the same stance as Disney what would their sentencing be ?
What about a small LLC daycare center ? Is Hobby Lobby or Chick Fillet next ? Custom tuned sentencing seems like a slippery slope to me. I AM NOT SAYING I AM AGAINST THE BILL. Nor am I saying I am for it. I am against what appears to be a revenge move on Disney by government. If Disney breaks the law they deserve sentencing consistent and equal to whoever else breaks that law. Disney may deserve to lose special district status for other reasons but that should be a stand alone separate issue and deserves its day in court. |

Of course that would depend; if the company spoke out against or for the state government’s action. A slippery slope indeed.

No doubt Women and black people have rights now. Marginalized people asking for rights it's terrible. Why can't things be like they used to be?

Are you saying that "women and black people" are perverted? How does teaching children a sexual perversion equate to minority equal rights, other than perversion IS a minority practice? The idea is NOT to teach children about gender confusion until they are old enough to understand a bit more about differences in biologic matters, such as male and female gender and how it is dictated by DNA, not by choice. When a child still thinks that a stork brought their baby brother to mommy, confusing them with gender choice issues is probably a bit early in their lives to understand. It has nothing to do with the fictitious idea that someone wishes for "don't say gay." If Disney wishes to step outside the norm and subject children to the abnormal, then they should expect push back by the majority. Is Disney supposed to be entertainment or a teaching institution? Are adults upset over a personally perceived issue or do they REALLY care about the children? Are they really defending Disney's being told they will no longer receive preferential treatment by Florida, or are they really defending Disney's encroachment into lifestyle choices? Personally, I find Universal a better choice than Disney anyway.. ![]() |

Personal preference but you are in the minority but have equal rights to an opinion: Average yearly attendance: Disney World - 58 million Universal < 4 million Thus Disney is bringing to Fl 14.5 x more tourism dollars than Universal at a minimum. And let's face it most of UNiversal's attendance is spill over from Disney. If you like no state tax be careful not to bite the hand that feeds you. IMHO diplomacy would benefit us better than revenge. Last edited by rustyp; 04-25-2022 at 08:36 AM. |

Disney's choice. Is there some reason that I would need to fear the idea of State income tax just because Disney would lose preferential treatment? I doubt they would close their doors....gates. By the way, one of the reasons that (my opinion) I like Universal better is the smaller crowd and smaller lines, and wait times. Majority vs minority attendance? I don't have Disney stock so other than hating crowds, I see no reason that I should be concerned with the idea of someone else's preference and resulting attendance numbers. |
