Default Birds and Golf Carts, this happened TWICE!

We've got a Yamaha golf cart, we have the sides and the back up, usually the front window down.
Now this has happened twice to us when the cart is parked, at two separate places:
A bird comes in and lands on the steering wheel then proceeds to use the space as a restroom.

I'm not sure if there's something attracting them to our cart, or if there's something we can do to deter them from finding the steering wheel as an attractive landing space. Ideas?

That is a favorite trick for Grackles and monkey squirrels.
They get in the cart looking for snacks and granola bars left behind by golfers.
It happens in country club parking lots the most. With the birds the steering wheel and speedometer are the best roosts. Upon leaving with the first beat of their wings they deposit your prize.

A cardboard cat for the front seat when you're gone?

You're not alone. We've had this happen every time we've had our cart parked at Belle Glade CC. Four times this past month?

Something I have never heard of or happened to us. First thought was to have an old towel in the cart and just cover the wheel with it whenever parked.

I just ended up putting the sides down and windshield up even on a cloudless day and of course they end up pooping on the front or back panels.

Well, there goes the dog poop thread monopoly. Guess it's time to post the vulture waste photo from the top of the bird cage (no pun intended).

I keep shiny bird deterrents on clips in my glove box and hang them from the cart roof when I park. Works great. You can also hang old CD from a string from your rearview mirror to scare them away if you wish. Just remember to remove them when you drive.

they are used to getting snacks that are laying on the dash and cup holders, espically on the golf courses.

We cover our steering wheel with a plastic grocery bag when parked for that exact reason!
