Well, its been several weeks since the Black Bear photo and supposed sighting in Winifred. Has anybody seen the Bear? Of course, its possible if you had enough Jack and diet coke to see not only Black Bears but Pink Elephants. One can easily conclude that the whole thing must have been hoax. A Black Bear roaming around TV would have been sighted and several photos posted by now. Maybe the Bear is still in TV and hiding in a tree somewhere. Maybe he roamed back into the Ocala Forest without anybody seeing him. Nah!

Have you seen the price of Jack lately? Up about 25% in the past few weeks. I wonder if that's everywhere or just TV?

Living in Winifred and enjoying early morning walks, I took an interest in the black bear story. For the record, I drink neither Jack nor diet coke.

About 2 years ago, a friend several streets over found a huge pile of "something" in her back yard. Having never seen anything similar and being curious, she collected some of it, took it to the agriculture center, and it was identified as bear poop. About 6 months ago, a neighbor 5 houses down discovered a like pile in her back yard.

While I do not know the lady that took the picture personally, I have several good friends that do know her. One actually rode with her for golf within a few days of her taking the picture. The bear was in her yard when she first looked out the window that morning, but by the time she got the camera, he had made his way down the street a few houses.

I have nothing to add about the possibility of pink elephants being seen locally.

The picture of the black bear in Winifred looked real. To find out for myself, I drove by the block where the picture taker said she took it; it does look like what you see it the picture.

I hate it when bear owners don't pick up after their pets. Are we allowed to put "No Pooping" signs in our yards?

A friend of mine saw a bear near their house over by Tierra. This is a person whom I trust completely, so yes, there is a bear around.

Easily! I've been around black bears in the Apalachicola National Forest. They are extremely smart and can easily sneak past you in a thick forest in daylight and you'll never hear or see them. I know from first hand experience.

Seems I recall there is a thread on 'no poop signs' in yards but I think it only mentioned dogs!

That description sounds like some of the deadbeat pavers and landscapers who take deposits from unsuspecting newbies and then run!
