Lightbulb Blink Cameras and Positioning

The Villages Florida

Quick Question as I have many. We have entered into an agreement for the Patio Villa - Emerald Model seen above, and am looking at putting in the "Blink" system:

Blink Outdoor 4 – Wireless smart security camera, two-year battery life, 1080p HD day and infrared night live view, two-way talk.

However, with the way the house is situated with the Lanai in the middle between golf car garage and the front entrance the best locations for the Cameras. One on Main garage, one inside Lanai that can catch front door and side entrance of Lanai / Patio, and then one out the back of the house which is across from a Rec/Pool/Postal Center and Cart paths?

Thoughts on or if you own one of these how did you configure the camera's for coverage. I think it is also great use for deliveries as well as checking in on storms when not there.

Appreciate the thoughts and the opinions.

We have 6 outdoor Blink Cameras
(1)front door covered alcove entrance works well for delivery, however if positioned to road, it will pick up every car/cart.
(1)Garage front under light.only use if I know delivery is coming
(1)Rear of house to catch the frequent bear, coyotes, turkeys, bob cat, occasionally a turtle.
(3)Lanai birdcage one facing door to birdcage, one facing pool, one facing the prairie with large trees, perfect to see storms.
Interior garage that can see both garage doors, to monitor inside deliveries and doors are closed.
One in Livingroom and office which monitors our cat when we do overnight.

Your PV one in the lanai, one to sweep driveway, under your golf cart garage light (not street) one inside garage and one inside especially if you have a home watch. This staging worked well for our PV back in the day

Default A WIRED doorbell camera first

Suggest keeping it simple to start. You will most likely be getting a doorbell camera anyway. Start with a WIRED one to avoid the battery headaches.
Although the range is adjustable, passing traffic/carts/walkers will wear down the batteries quicker than you may expect. Only two low voltage wires to connect at existing doorbell.

It would pick up packages left by the door and monitor the driveway and more.
Stick with the same brand if you get more cameras to avoid extra subscription costs.

Wyze makes a quality product as does Ring.

Appreciate the valuable feedback, didnt think of interior but certainly makes sense as up north I have MyQ for Amazon deliveries, but no video inside. Not sure why that didnt pop into mind.

Remember that many (if not all) of the wireless cameras can be hacked, I will use only wired cameras.

My villa doorbell is on the side of the wall not facing the front…any way to get a forward facing view from a camera?

I have a CYV & I’m a snowbird. I use 5 Blink cameras. Front door, lanai, side walkway, in garage and inside my home. Blink doorbell wired does not keep the batteries from dying. I know this from experience. As for a 2 year battery life, that depends on how many times the camera is activated.

I just have three, one of the front door, one of the garage and one of the back patio. I also have a dog and a sign that says this house is armed!

Hey nice home!

As far as these security cameras...I guess I'm just not a fan because I really, really don't trust those companies. And coupled with law enforcement and insurance getting in the mix, I think I'll "take my chances" without them.

Think of this video as a public service announcement

My Wyze doorbell cam came with a mounting adapter that angles the camera about 45 degrees. Works well on my CYV

I have had Wyze cameras inside and outside and now a door bell for years and love them. Pretty inexpensive to purchase and you can get them on Amazon

I have one attached to the light pole so I can see who is coming up the driveway and a Blink doorbell cam.
