10 to 15 ft. of one. They’re one mean SOB!
It would be hard to get that close to a bobcat.

Agree, unless the bobcat or coyote decides that he wants to get close to you. That's unlikely unless they are rabid... in which case, you don't want them close to you at all.

Personally, I would prefer a stout walking stick about 3' 10" in length. You could use that to gouge them with or to hit them using a "baseball" swing.

BTW, there are a lot of raccoon here too, but you seldom see them because they are mostly nocturnal. Put a trail camera and some decent bait in your yard and you're likely to see all kinds of creatures you didn't know were here.

If you have a little dog DO NOT let him out in the yard alone at night. My husband takes a baseball bat with him when he goes out with the dog now.
One of my neighbors reported seeing a bobcat on their wall. I have a 14 pound dog and the thought is frightening. Our Urgent News group reported it via email to all of our residents. I do not let my dog out alone at night. I did some research and found out that it is mating season which makes them more aggressive. The article also said that they seldom attack people and are easily deterred by loud noises. I am wondering if anyone has seen one during the day??? Coyotes and bobcats can get into the yards even in villas, so we need to beware for sure.

there are many 🌶️ pepper sprays that have a stream range of over 10 feet. Only caveat is that after using back away from area sprayed and wash your hands. Do not touch your eyes area before you wash.

If they don't like loud noises, instead of harming them with bats, clubs etc. Can't you just get a siren thing that goes on your keychain. I have one that when I hit it, it goes off. It's supposed to scare away an attacker. I also have the other spray just in case.

We live in Tamarind Grove and back up to the Southwood Villas wall. We had a mom and two young ones come across the wall earlier, and recently just two "adolescents" went by, and then came back 15 min later. So beautiful!

I’m just saying this lady said her husband took a ball bat for protection, but you’re right he probably couldn’t get close enough to it unless he cornered it. Then my money would on the Bobcat! They’re very nasty.

Default Bobcat

Of course you saw a Bobcat, one day you may see a Black Bear. Animals were here first and we are depleting their world. Not the other way round.
