Default bogey

We moved to The Villages from Pennsylvania almost six years ago, and could not be happier..What is not to like?? However, this winter it seemed as though were living in the "Villages Resort" with all the visitors to contend with. Now I read in the daily paper today that if we are not careful, we could become a haven for Spring Break...I can see it all now, teenagers drag racing golf carts on Buena Vista, and jumping off the balcony at Katie Belles...Tell me it isn't so!!!

Yesterday we traveled from Duval, up Buena Vista, to Santiago. Along the way I kept commenting to my wife about the number of guests or visitors we passed along the way. She joked, "Spring Break". Then, there it was in the Daily Sun this am. I still think it's a stretch to think most college kids who have the resources to leave the cold for a week are going to set The Villages, as their destination.

Well, they are forsaking Cancun, etc. What about the 4 young girls in bikinis just hanging around on the round about in front of Caroline and Stillwater.... I almost crashed my car. I also observed a hi-rider with a boom box in the car going around LSL square the other night in front of Red Sauce. Don't kid yourselves, for some reason they are coming here. I can't imagine why, but its starting to happen. I think they are not welcomed anywhere else and they figure the old fogies wouldn't kick up too much of a fuss...

Smile Great!

Personally, I like young people around! Who wants to be around the same age group all the time. Not me! Although I will admit, I'm happy not to be "living" with kids next door. Neighbors have grandkids for a week or two that's fine. I do think of TV as a "resort" community.

I'm also happy that younger people are moving in. That's what I love about TV, it's always changing.

Talking How did you know!

Haha! Yes GG, that's exactly what I meant. But, there is a section Bison Valley where younger families with children are moving in.

I have lived in a Spring Break destination before and I dread the thought of TV becoming one and I don't really see that happening. We bought in a retirement community because we no longer wanted a neighborhood with children. We rent our home until we can retire and be there full time. Out of consideration for our neighbors we choose to rent to adults only with two person occupancy limit. It may be a Vacation Destination to some but to our neighbors it is home and will be to us someday.

Default Everything I always thought about The Villages....

Hey! Hold on here a minute! I always thought that when you finally do get to move to TV, you feel younger immediately. You are more relaxed. You get more exercise. All good. Right?

And so I figured the eventual offshoot of all that would be that you would start to look younger, too.

So how do you know that you are not just seeing Villagers who have been there for a few years. Hey! Could happen. Right?

(Or it could just be Grandma and Grandpa turning the house over to their darling grandchildren for a week.)

For clarification, we're not talking about "young" people in general, the thread was started about spring break kids. I'm not against any young people by any means, and I think you all know that, I'm against rowdy, drunken parties, cars with booming radios, drag racing in the streets, and people not respecting our properties. I lived next to a college in Los Angeles and I had enough of that, I didn't move here to be around that during spring break. I agree with Halle and thankfully people like her who rent to adults during this season.

Exactly right Boomer! It's probably Villagers! Haha! I cannot see The Villages turning into a Spring Break Destination. I think some people could be trying to keep their kids out of Mexico and I can't blame them for that! EEKs!
