Default Bonita/Pocket Door

Our family just left after a wonderful vacation here. Now, we're more aware of how nice it would be to have a pocket door in our Bonita courtyard villa. This would give more privacy as visitors use the middle guest bedroom/bathroom. Our problem is that we have a high ceiling in that area as compared to some Bonita models that have a low ceiling that allows for a pocket door install.

Does anyone have a solution for the above floor plan?
Thanks

Bogart, I have not been in your model, but I am a Designer.
Based on the floor plan on line of the Bonita and envisioning it with cathedral ceilings...I would think that you should be able to quite simply install a soffit just above the door opening, leaving it open above the soffit which would be like a 12" high plant ledge running across the opening. (You don't have to put a plant there, and it doesn't have to be 12" high. Depth could be wall depth or run all the way back to the bathroom hall, wall.
The pocket door itself only requires empty wall space. It would look good both open and closed, and afford your guests their privacy.
Could work for you.

Good idea. I hadn't thought of that option. We're getting ready to leave (snowbirds) but when we come back in the fall and before the visitors invade, we'll have to explore the pocket door issue. I now understand why people like their pocket doors!

Thanks for answering.

I have 7 pocket doors in my current home and do like the convenience of them and that they don't take up the room that a regular door does. We did have them put in during the building process so it was easy because they were located where we didn't have to worry about electrical or plumbing in the walls. It is nice to be able to close off an area like that. Sounds good.
