You should have water stored up for hurricane season. If you ran out and another major storm is coming, buy water. It wont go to waste. No big deal if you want to take the chance and not have any if needed. Thats your choice

You definitely should get a hurricane preparedness guide. Water is the number one important supply. If you get a contaminated water and no electric no way to boil. You will not have safe drinking water. A lot of pumps run on electric supply. Also should fill your tub for flushing water.

The reason to buy water (or store it) is if we lose electricity, the facilities that pump the water to your house will not work unless they have a back up generator (most have no generators). So you may have no water or very low pressure. If that happens we will have a boil water alert for several days after the water comes back on.

Many Villagers love to Live In Fear. When a hurricane is headed to FL, the grocery shelves begin to get bare. Bottled water is quick to go. Usually nothing drastic happens and the scared Villagers can talk about how lucky they were that the Storm missed them, until the next storm is on the radar and it begins again. A good example of the Fear can be found in various threads about Wearing a Mask.

We DO remember a few years ago when the eye of a hurricane came right over a portion of The Villages. My power AND WATER were out for 6 days in the heat of summer. That was real and thankfully a rare event.

I had the water tested, tap water with whole house filter and three brands of bottled water. This was a blind test so the tester did not know where the water came from. Two of the more popular brands of bottled water tested the worst. A premium brand tested second. Filtered water (Zero) tested the best and the tap water was 3rd after zero water and premium brand bottled water. PS the premium brand bottled water was very expensive.

Do not understand the bottled water thing. Polluting the planet with plastic. A home filter, in any form usually does the trick and would help save the planet. Although it will not allow us to breath in those wonderful toxic fumes from the plastics being burned locally. Breath deeply!

We are originally from Jersey and our water always had a weird taste to it even after filtration. I always bought Poland Springs water. My husband calls me a water snob because I would only by Fiji water when we moved here. He drinks zephyrhills water which to me you can taste the filtration. To my surprise Staples sells Poland Springs. I buy 4 cases of Poland Spring instead of 1 case of Fiji. My wallet and husband are much happier now.

We have maintained a "storm/blizzard/power outage/hurricane pantry" for years, whether up North or in South Florida. Old habit. Use up and rotate the stock and replenish as needed. I don't wait until the last minute for a coming weather event. It's not hoarding, it's being prepared. Yeah, it's peace of mind. I have enough anxiety. LOL

I lived in South Florida during hurricane Andrew. I still remember Brian Norcross informing everyone to fill their bathtub with water to use to flush toilets in case the water supply was interrupted. I will always have at least one bathtub in any home we live in for that reason.
