Default No more gate cards

With the installation of software that will provide immediate license plate recognition at the gates as announced in today’s Daily Sun, maybe the use of gate cards can be eliminated. At the very least, it will give someone a good indication of who is here and who is gone for the summer. Plus, it should provide data to help with traffic flow. I see many other uses of the data collected.

While the information collected will be shared with the Developer and our local government, I might have issues if it is given to other third parties.

I would like too see the next step is a "plate" for the golf carts that could utilize the same reader and software. This would be VOLUNTARY!

The current system is a traffic control system only. The cameras do have the capability to look back over a certain period of time when looking for a specific incident like breaking a gate arm or following up on traffic at the time of a robbery or other.

They do not keep track of the coming and going and who is here or not here.

Are you willing to pay a substantial increase in the amenity fee to get the sophistican some are looking for?

Included in the price increase would be the staffing to monitor and measure the results of the new sophistication.

To what end?

( I could not find any other information relating to this item)
Nothing was said about:
-eliminating gate cards
-nothing about who is here and who is not or who is gone for the summer
-nothing about traffic flow
-no indication of who would share the data
-nothing about sharing data with third parties.

Could you provide the source of these statements?

It's called data mining of information on a server. Yes, no mention of what the software could do other than saying License recognition. If you have questions to ask at the next Welcome Wednesday, ask away.

Is this the first step to eliminate gate cards, it could be!

Question

What happens to vehicles that only have rear license plates? Like, of course the State of Florida!

The camera location, the capabilities, and how it will actually be used are unknown. It will all unfold in due time - no worries.

And these are being installed on public roadways? What do you think will happen if the system refuses to allow a vehicle through the gates?

Keep in mind TV is not a gated community.

The state of Florida has a thing called “Driver Privacy Protection Act”, in part DPPA restricts public access to your social security number, driver license or identification card number, name, address, telephone number and medical or disability information, contained in your motor vehicle and driver license records. Additionally, emergency contact information and email addresses are restricted pursuant to Section 119.0712(2), Florida Statutes.

So it looks to me like The Villages Community Watch can collect license numbers, put a time stamp on them, spend $665,591, hire a crew to fiddle with the numbers, spend more money for wages, and that looks like the extent of it and people will still be saving seats at Spanish Springs and bar tenders will be killed in Spanish Springs.
