I have two problems with this incident.

1) The news coverage is ridiculous and disgusting.

2) There are enough distractions while driving around here. They should have been out of sight and no one would have known.

Is there a club in The Villages where people like this can meet others and have organized outings?

Both people have addresses in The Villages and are over age 18. Like it or not, they are REAL Villagers.

I use the adjoining cart path in that area and those boxes are completely surrounded by thick bushes. You would have to go into them looking for someone. Were those bushes just placed there to hide the area. The paper said they were in the open.?

The Huffington Post also picked up the story with the same graphic description and the same photos of the couple.

Another bad aspect of this story going viral is that many more people are made aware that people of all ages can move to The Villages.
"**************.com reports that on July 30, she was accused of stealing a case of beer from a convenience store with another man and fleeing in a golf cart." huffington post

Is there any other place in the country where the get-away car is a golf cart?

That sounds like it could be in a sitcom.

No one got physically injured in this escapade. No one got scarred for life in this escapade.

Neither participant is a stellar citizen but what difference does it make?

Both participants made a very poor judgement call - they will be punished. Don't make them out to be a Bonnie and Clyde. NO ONE GOT HURT!!

'Nuff said.
Perhaps with this type of attitude you would like to offer the poor couple your back yard for their next tryst! Just be sure you close your blinds first so you will not be offended.

Sometimes I am amazed at the attitudes of intelligent people. Everything is fine as long as it does not happen in my back yard! Bull! Next time a home invasion is reported the culprits will just say they were looking for a place to have sex and we will all forgive them. NOT!

Default In broad daylight

Because many have commented previously about the number of "under age" resident arrests, I ask this. Who keeps tabs on the percentage of people under 55? (Age qualified communities can include up to 20% under the age.) Does anybody really keep count?

And a comment from me: If these two people live here-- and the others arrested for lewd behavior, drunk driving, etc. -- then I'd like to see a judge give them sentences that involve community service, such making them pick up litter and dog feces every weekend for a month while wearing a sign. Or, would the progressives call this cruel and unusual punishment?

Both people are being held without bond! Both had records but nothing violent.

In the meantime, the 67 year old Villager who shot his pistol twice at an occupied car during a road rage incident is released on bond?

Which is the more dangerous - a couple having sex behind a walled off area or a man who shoots at a car for honking at him?

Let's get priorities straight!

This is exactly what I said on the other thread about the agenda of the other online newspaper making this white trash the lead story, to attract bigger tabloids to quote them and expand their readership that wants to look at pictures of flea bags like that. The advertisers should be ashamed.

The guy in the sex on the box issue had a lot of previous arrests. One arrest said he was charged for using someone's credit card that he was house sitting for. I think we need to KNOW who is who in our community. A lot of newbies are very innocent about hiring contractors etc.

I don't see any reason not to share this kind of information with the community. Decent people don't act like that. I see no defense for what they did. We would have skinned our kids for doing something like that...............wouldn't we??????

It did attract tabloids, but it was the truth. Do you NOT want to know???? I do. The guy in a previous arrest was charged with using someone's credit card that he was house sitting for.

Maybe they will get a reality TV show deal out of it.

The link posted by Manaboutown (Post #66) said that both people were being held in jail in lieu of $1500 bond. Given their prior records this sounds low to me but was obviously more than they could afford so there they sit. What is unfair about that?

We can know by clicking on the "Crime" Section tab of "the other newspaper" online. This was clearly sensationalized by putting it in the front page as lead story......catching the wave of tabloid attention from the Inside Edition trashing of TV, and the other couple that was arrested before that.

And as for the credit card fraud this loser did from house sitting, the homeowner got what they ordered if they hired the guy without doing criminal background checking, starting by doing it for free on all three county courts' online court records search, and then by requiring bonded/insured.

I'm out of state right now and the usual trashing of TV with claims of STD-ridden old white rich b*****ds is worse than ever. I'm starting to not mention I live in FL, much less TV. The raucous mockery of TV ruins conversation amongst people we came to visit and people we encourage to come and visit us in TV.

I can see your point, but it depends if you are the person who is responsible for prioritizing the news or the person annoyed by the fact that their beloved community is tarnished.

We have a granddaughter who was trained responsibly as a journalist but now makes her living as a television news producer.

I see both sides. I hate when this wonderful place gets bad publicity. But all it takes is for people to come here just once to see what we see.

It all depends where you sit sometimes.

Most people are just jealous of us who get to spend everyday here on vacation. I would think that anyone who knew you well would know that you have good judgement. AND I agree that some detail in the online news were not necessary.

The "other news source" stated, "Judge orders no bond for Villagers accused of sex on electrical utility box".

A $1,500 bond would have been reasonable for a crime that was victimless and was a non-violent crime.
