I think you used the correct terminology. A small hole in a road or cart path is not a sinkhole. Even if it is 2' x 3'. A sinkhole is where the earth seems to open up and swallow a larger area. IMHO.

To make a followup on my original report, I wouldn't know a sinkhole from the sky, but when I seen that hole it was at least 3 feet deep with no safety cones!!!!!!!!!!
I passed there today and the hole has been filed up to about 4inches of the top and is well marked.
Now these numbers are a SWAG. I had no measuring tape with me at the time, but I'm a retired journeyman pipe fitter/ millwright so I do understand the differance between 3 feet deep and 4 inches deep!! I do hope they get new blacktop down soon. Everbody have a good day!!

OK, Bogie shooter, I just don't like being called a lier.
My original post called the hole a "sinkhole/road collaps"
It was also reported by DGx2's wife.
my only concern was that someone might hit the hole, whatever you want to call it. I'm sure that was also DGx2's concern also.
I f someone had hit that hole, we may very well be posting about a very bad cart wreck!
That's very different than a "falling sky!"

THREE FEET deep? Guess I missed that part. Mostly saw the numbers that the other folks were tossing about!
They probably left "the hole has been filed up to about 4inches of the top" so there is room for a decent paving patch job.

For the record, the original hole was 3-4 ft. wide and about 3ft. deep. The pavement had collapased into the hole. My wife actually turned around and put a couple of bales of pine straw to keep anyone from driving into the hole. Later, the hole was filled in, sawcut to make a uniformed patch and safety cones were put around the area. This hole was either a minor sinkhole or major erosion. Kudos to my wife for being concerned enough to make sure no one would get hurt and kudos to The Villages for fixing it so promptly.

I agree and thank you for posting. TV does work quickly when these collapses happen.
