Also the AAC and PWAC members who are responsible for the administration of the amenities north and south of CR466 are all also full time residents of The Villages and elected by the residents. The only say the developer has is in CDD 12, the commercial districts, and the championship golf courses.

The inmates running the asylum seems to be working pretty good for the last 30 years.
Oh boy I recall several of our residents promised to leave the day the inmates took over. How can this be ?

It amazes me how many people live here and don't know how the place works. Why not attend The Resident Academy. It is an excellent program that gives an overview of most departments and how they work here in The Villages. You even get a tour of a Fire Dept and Sewage Treatment plant.

And as long as that tired cliche is out in the open, let's give it a thorough thrashing: Who provides the blood, sweat and tears needed to make allof the activities possible that create the mystical 'lifestyle' that allegedly brings people here in the first place?? You guessed it - volunteer RESIDENTS. Imagine what the amenity fees would be if those were paid positions or, conversely, how many of them would be eliminated because of the small numbers of people who would support them (even if they could find people who would run them)? Yes, the developer built the facilities and the CDD's maintain them, but, IMO, the RESIDENT volunteers make the amenities possible.........

I so agree. There are many, many, many dedicated people who are responsible for the many crafts and arts and exercise and dance and self help and other classes too numerous to mention and never take a penny for their time. Some have done it for years and earn the love and respect of the many people who have benefited from their tutelage and dedication.

There have been a few who tried to make money doing it, but it isn't allowed.

I think the cliche is "It takes a Village"! No one group is successful without efforts of another. We help each other out to create a positive environment for us and others. We build of the successes and failures of others, learning from both and moving forward.
