Default Will Morse Blvd be another SR301

Thinking about the new 468 interchange and widening of 468 into a 4 lane divided highway. Will any size truck use this as a shortcut to 27/441 ? What will this do to Morse Blvd. and it's adjacent Villages ? What about the roundabouts ? What about these trucks crossing over the Lake Sumter Bridge onto northern Morse Blvd. ? Not to mention the additional hundreds/thousands of cars per day coming off the turnpike that now use the 301 exit. Will living in the Morse Blvd. area become a traffic and safety nightmare ?

Yes, I had all of these concerns when this was first announced over a year ago, then saw that the extension was for Morse and not Buena Vista. But is any case your concerns are valid. Large trucks cannot stay in one lane on the roundabouts, and can you imagine them yielding to a car in the left lane making a right turn (after going 3/4 around the roundabout)? I had not thought about the short cut aspect or the possible wear and tear to the bridge. A LOCAL DELIVERIES ONLY sign would be a good idea, IF it would be enforced......

My thought is that for the most part truckers are aware of the routes and shortcuts that are best taken. I would think most of them would avoid Morse Blvd. and its many roundabouts.

Way too early to say what measures will be taken to avoid such issues. Although I'm confidant measures will be taken...if necessary.

But I'm not sure any unusual measures will be needed. I don't see where trucks would be coming from that they would want to take Morse to 441? If they're from 301, why wouldn't they stay on 301? If there from the turnpike, they have an interchange at 441 already? Am I missing something?

I personally don't think large truck traffic will be cutting through TV's and dealing with the round-abouts. They are on tight schedules. Heck, I use 301 to get up to 466 myself most of the time, it's quicker than going around all the round-abouts and dealing with slower traffic on both Morse and Buena Vista.

South bound trucks could take the new exit, north bound would still take the 441. Also, truckers not familiar with the area may take the new exit.

Why, with an interchange closer to 441 just a short way ahead?

And truckers taking wrong exits won't be truckers for long.

That would be ideal, but then, nothing else is really enforced, is it?

I believe the closest 441/Turnpike interchange is near the Florida Mall in Orlando.

Doesn't have to be an interchange with 441. There are several interchanges north of the mall. One at CR 470, which isn't that far south...and not that far from 27/441.

NOTE: My bad, Chuck. I just read my post and I DID say interchange with 441. You're right. I edited it to say what I meant.

WOW nothing like worrying about spilled milk before it is put in the carton or jug

There always has been truck and heavy car traffic on 468, CR-501 and the 301 468 area. Nothing will change that. The Villages can not control State and CR usage. No need to fret over what might and will be. I am sure a lot of vehicles will use any interchange off the turnpike to 44 and 301. Trucks delivering to Leesburg will most likely continue to use 470 interchange depending on where they deliver. I am sure they will come in on new one also.

Heck I do not worry about big trucks at the round-a-bouts. I worry more about regular motorist who do not know how to drive in them. Big trucks just stay away and give room. Wether it be a 48 or 53 foot trailer, got to give them big rigs room.

Just sayin

One thing is for sure. Build it and they will come. Any exit off a major road such as the Florida turnpike will be heavily used and people living close will be affected. Remember, not only is it an exit, it's also a turnpike entrance heading to and from MCO as well as all points north to south.

I doubt that traffic that includes trucks will take a route that is 35 mph speed limit the entire length.

Maybe there will be a "truck route" around The Villages.

Nope.
Truckers are not dumb.
North on 441 parallels I-75, with which Fl. Turnpike was designed to intersect a mere 7 miles West of 468.
North on 441 is stop and go to and in Ocala and same in Gainesville, both of which towns are immediately accessible via multiple exits from I-75.
