We have Comcast for TV and Internet. They recently increased the download speeds to 25Mb. We use MagicJack for our phone service which costs $20/YR. We are not totally pleased with Comcast TV because coming from NY we had Time Warner and they are way ahead of Comcast with Technology and Real Digital service.

Since you are south of 466A I would recommend Brighthouse. We had them a few years ago before moving to TV was great service. Comcast would be the next choice if available. We had Comcast switched to Century Link, was a big mistake the internet is too slow if you use Netflix or watching videos on the internet, doesn' t buffer fast enough to continue without interruption. We are now back to Comcast (only other avail) and service is great again.

search the companies you are considering to see a balanced list of reviews. I suggest Brighthouse for internet and Direct TV. Happy moving...(yuck, I hate moving)

We have Comcast but not for long! The absolute worst customer service of any business I have ever dealt with. We too are currently "searching" for a new service.

If Brighthouse is so good, wonder why we can't have it north of 466A?

I had Comcast in Arizona and they are the worst service on the planet. In Orlando I have had Brighthouse and will continue to have them when I come to TV next month. Like you MikeV I too had Time Warner in NY and Brighthouse is on par with them. They even have BBC America.

Yes Diane, Brighthouse and the local rep Paul are the greatest...great picture, programing selection and personal service from Paul who handles the Villages accounts and problems

First, thanks everyone for the recommendations!!

Yankeefan - Call, email, text, or PM me. I will help you out however I can and try to make the transition as easy as possible.

JustJim - As far as I can tell, it looks like you live in Sanibel. If that is the case, contact me and I will go over the options you have for switching from Comcast to Bright House.

Yorio - there are several reasons why Bright House is south of 466A and not north, but pretty much right now it is MONEY. The Villages built these new sections down into our service are so we were able to get service to them for relatively low investment. Because we were able to get in pre-construction, we could run our lines with the least amount of labor costs (no tearing up yards, streets, etc.). Also, there may or may not be some exclusivity agreements for other sections of The Villages, not sure and not saying there is, but could be part of the problem. Hopefully, everything in the south will go good and eventually we can look at moving up north, but that would be somewhere off in the future.

If anyone has any questions or needs any info, do not hesitate to call or email me.

Thanks as always,
Paul

I used Century Link when I lived in Lynhaven. No problems. I've moved to Glenbrook and all I can say is the experience has been downright disappointing to say the least. When I scheduled my "appointment" to have the new service installed I assumed all was well. When I called to verify my "appointment" I was told that by the end of buisness that day service would be available. The customer service rep said to check the line around 5:30 and it should be working.Huh? I told her I had an appointment with a technician and she said,"Oh No, for that there is an extra charge". Forgot the amt but it was in excess of 50 bucks. She then told me how simple the plug and play would be so a real appointment wasn't necessary. I asked her if the tech would at least knock on the door to make sure my service was up, and she said, Oh No. I asked why not, and she said "that's not what they do". after dealing with her obvious incompetence I spoke with a manager and got pretty much the same attitude. They acted like they were doing me a favor by allowing me to purchase their service. Of course when the tech arrived he did knock on the door and made sure all was well. He told me that at all his calls the customers were fed up by the time he arrived, not with him but the bureaucrats in his office and their lack of concern and inability to attempt to be helpful in any way. I'm currently exploring the option to take all my service back to Comcast, as bad as they are. At least they would talk to you,and their prices are competitive to unbundled satellite and internet svc....
