I whole heartedly agree. But the gate at Sandhill (Buena Vista and St. Charles) is an outrage most of the time during the high season, even when the gate is functioning properly. Too much auto traffic resulting in long back-ups on the MMPs. Somebody is gonna get impatient and hurt.

The two gates I use all the time are the Mallory gate and the Odel Circle gate. They may not be very busy, however, compared to other gates though.

St Charles gates are still down. Thursday as we were 5th in line, we all watched in horror as a cart crossed exiting car lane, and stopped in middle to watch the two entrance lanes.
At the same time 2 cars came off roundabout, both accelerating through entrance gate to try to beat the other. The cart stopped was barely missed getting hit sitting to cross. When they finally crossed both residents were clearly shaken about the incident.

I am glad in your world you have no worries crossing during storm prep. But durning that storm prep, Traffic is at its lowest, due to many choose to stay at home as they should. If your gates were down for weeks in normal everyday traffic, like St Charles, your gate crossing thoughts might change.

It seems as each day passes with down gates at ST Charles the cars are becoming more out of control, knowing that they only need to slow down or stop if they feel like it.

Assuming "this boondoggle" has something to do with the gates, the PWAC and perhaps the SLCDD is who you need to talk to. Both are scheduled to meet on the 14th at Seabreeze. The PWAC at 8AM and the SLCDD at 1:30PM.

In all seriousness, having a gate, any gate, out of order for more than one day should be considered unacceptable. If the gate(s) can't be fixed in 24hrs, then, for safety sake, temporary measures should be taken. Those measures could be anything from uniformed traffic officers (unlikely) to temporary speed bumps AMD posted stop signs /cameras.
