I think that someone from the Sheriff's Department from Sumter, Lake and Marion Counties need to put out the correct information on this subject.

If you can buy a drink at an outdoor stand, you should be able to carry it to your table, but if this is not allowed, then the respective departments need to make that information known. Also need each department to let us know about Sunset Pointe and other places where folks gather to watch the sun set and in each of the Village Squares what is allowed and what is not.

Drunk driving is a serious problem and needs to be addressed. We all need to know what is and what is not allowed so that we can be part of the solution to the problem and not the problem.

No, I think I shall continue doing what I am doing.I do not need signs telling me where I can put down my beer. Picnic tables, golf carts will not change until forced too. If I get a ticket will fight it. Bring camera along might come in handy.

Cool

It's always easier to ask forgiveness than it is to ask permission!

I think we just need to be reasonable...if you see a police officer, hide your beer

Default "Knock Yourself Out" Icon??

Where is the "Knock Yourself Out" icon when we need it? I have a good visual in my head, though.

the roads belong to the county, you were drinking on a county road. it is a shame because the atmosphere is very conducive to sitting in a cart with a brewski! polo anyone?

Yea its like I said 8 post back the issue is an oxymoron. Talk about cognitive dissonance. Buy a drink or take a walk, choose one only. Why isn't it" drink too much and risk the consequences" heck just carry bottled water

Default Just Wondering.....

If I recall correctly when a similar thread surfaced many months ago, someone had the presence of mind to inquire of the sheriff's office if such a ticket had in fact been issued. It had not. Might this be the same?

This isn't a question about drunk driving. Everyone knows that's an issue. Everyone needs to stop preaching about it.

the subject of this thread is:

The Villages promotes selling drinks in the squares yet it's tough to know exactly what is allowed visa/vie locations to drink the beverage without incurring a citation. No one wants someone ticketed for consuming a couple of drinks in the square. We just need better guidelines outlined.
