Default Ideas to stay busy on summer afternoons

This is my first summer here in The Villages. Early mornings are my favorite time — wake up slightly before sunrise, and go for a nice long walk, and then off to either pickleball or golf before it gets too hot. Also, dusk is a great time for another walk around the neighborhood, stopping to chat with neighbors along the way. (Or showing up at the square after 7 or so if I like one of the bands that is playing).

I’ve adjusted my afternoon schedule to stay indoors for the summer (unless I’m at the pool). If I go out, it’s to play rumikub at the rec center. My at-home indoor summer activities so far are working on my genealogy ancestry family trees, catching up on reading, jigsaw puzzles, and binging on old movies on TCM favorites.

Was curious what others are doing to stay busy indoors during the hot afternoon summers?

The summer months down here really heat up for outdoor activities and most people just find a place with AC.
Reminds me of my younger days during the Wisconsin winters when the term
"cabin fever" was used a lot.
Never thought the term could refer to Florida summers.

I work full time and it's air conditioned. I'm hoping to retire when I turn 80 but don't know what I would do at that point if I'm still healthy. Whatever it would be it would not be outside, I don't like the heat and I also don't like winter.

Just sit in your air conditioned home and drink copious amounts of alcohol

I prefer golfing in the middle of the afternoon, the rates are cheaper and the courses are almost empty. Just fill the cooler with lots of cold water. The only problem are those dam frequent lightning storms.

When you say discussion groups, what do you mean and where do they meet?

Why stay indoors? Afternoon golf and pickleball are great as are most activities.

Move to Florida and stay inside, doesn’t make much sense.

Lots of sports pool activities like water volleyball and different Arabic classes you can also search for open cards and board games and get interested in something in the air conditioning like domino's or zambo or rummy cube

Put in a pool and it will change your whole lifestyle. I want you to stay in Florida forever. Summers will be coming your favorite time of year and you’ll look forward to them.

Siesta. See, I’m getting multicultural in my old age.
