South side of course has other advantages, primarily being more central. So it's a matter of priorities. Best bet: Springdale. ![]()

For consideration, I find myself mostly using regional rec centers for fitness classes and tennis. We are close to Colony and fairly close to Seabreeze and Lake Miona. I go to one of these centers almost every day and sometimes twice a day.

If you like quiet and do not plan to frequent the squares on a daily basis, Calumet Grove is very nice.......... At first we thought it would be "too far out" as it is in the northwest quadrant...........however, we had no problem driving to Lake Sumter Landing when we wanted to eat out on the lake. My husband , who was totally adverse to The Villages, loved the location. It was as comfortable as home could be. He said he actually preferred it. We rented for one month on a cul de sac..........everything was just fine. Obviously, the homes are a bit older......but we are used to much older up here.......and being on the golf course and in a pool home, made up for the distance. Most people, I would imagine, would settle into a normal routine of daily existence and do the things that interest them. Again, it was nice and quiet. Initially, our lifestyle visit for the four days was in Creekside Landing.......also very very nice, but didn't seem as cozy a neighborhood as did Calumet Grove.........which went over the top in decorating their homes at Thanksgiving time for Christmas....... We actually hated to leave........good luck in whatever you choose. |

You have to admit the homes up there seem to have larger lots, and more detail in the homes, we just decided south of 466 was for us, and we can hear the train as well but just not as loud

Well Posh, you can say one thing about my earlier post. . . it brought the "snowbirds" out of the northwest sector! I was PM with someone earlier and they own a villa just behind Mulberry and she referenced that area as having snow, being so far up north!
![]() ![]() Folks, I wasn't knocking the area one bit. It is beautiful up there. I didn't mention the trains, because you can hear them everywhere west of Lake Sumter and sometimes all over. I'll take everyone's word for it, but Lake Sumter from Chatham has to be a l-o-n-g cart ride, especially driving home when the dancing stops! NOW, regardless of where you choose, I want everyone reading this, who isn't there yet, TO GET THERE - - ASAP!!! Paradise is awaiting, plus all these new friends to welcome us!! We are busting with excitement that our 7-year wait is coming to an end!!! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Z and P, are available homes scarce in Springdale? TV doesn't show many except under contract. Hard to find in the MLS.

I live in that area....pools are good, Amberwood is one of the best 9 hole courses in the area. Many old trees and area greenery is well developed.

Bought our house in Woodbury last April. Did not know too much about Woodbury then just found the house we wanted. We go to the Springdale pool and love it, just a few minutes from the house. Have gone to the Calumet Grove pool a few times for a change of scenery. Enjoy walking the neighborhood and seeing the mature landscaping in Woodbury. Mulberry Rec Center is close by and the Publix is minutes away. In NY we were 20 minutes away from shopping so it is no big deal for us. We enjoy the leisurely golf cart drive to Spanish Springs. When we visit friends "down south" we take the car. Have friends in Calumet Grove and Chatham and we are there in no time. Neighbors are very nice, although very quiet. Someone on the cul de sac is trying to form a block party and that will be nice. As everyone else has said....it is just a matter of preference.
