Default Cameras for outside the house

We are leaving Xfinity and going to Spectrum. Right now, we have two cameras installed by X. We own them (im 99% sure)
Is there an easy way to use the cabling to install new ring type cameras above our main entrance? I dont want a doorbell camera and do want a hard wired powered one. Not battery.

Hi there! We are a licensed, insured, and recommended local electrician. We install Ring camera flood lights frequently in The Villages. You could purchase the units online, even on Amazon, and we will hardwire them and install the units for you.
Give us a call for an estimate, and we offer a Talk of The Villages member discount!

I do not know if RING has hardwired cameras, there are other manufacturers that do offer these. The ones we have use a Siamese cable, two wires for power run with the coax for the video. No idea what type of cable you have installed, as it may be possible to have the DC power supply actually share the coax cable.
You will need to look at the existing cable to see if you can determine the existing installation (straight coax or Siamese) and the connections to see if this will work with your proposed cameras. Years ago I bought a system from Sams Club that had 4 cameras, the DVR and 4 cables around 100 feet each, with all of the appropriate power supply and video connectors.
Sorry i cannot provide a specific solution.

I know you are determined to get hardwired, but I moved from a hardwired system to a Wireless Solar system from Eufy and they have been fantastic. I have wireless cameras at each corner of the home and over the garage and I have NEVER had to charge them or replace a battery.

On a related topic, any recommendations for solar powered battery cameras that don’t require a monthly subscription. Just looking for notifications when movement is sensed, and the ability to watch live footage via a smartphone app.

Wyze.

They sell subscriptions, don't need them.
Excellent app.

I agree the wireless are great if you don't have existing wiring installed. But I read that there are simple devices that can wipe out the wi-fi signal, thereby blocking the cameras. That made me re-think the wireless strategy. . .

Most network cameras today offer POE power over ethernet and if they don't you can use a splitter that will make any network camera a POE and then you can use a POE router to supply them. Running cat 5 or 6 to the soffits are relatively easy. You will need to research this on Google it is to much to explain in a forum. Good Luck

We have a ring camera in the window next to the door. I rest it on top of the window near the lock. There's a plug right underneath the window. Works perfectly.

We had a Ring doorbell and two hardwired camera/floodlights when we moved into our house. When one of the cameras failed, I switched to a Eufy E340 doorbell and replaced both Ring cameras with Eufy E340s. Wow, so far they are amazing. No subscription needed ever, stores all photos on a micro SD card inside each camera (or you can purchase a base station, but not mandatory), each camera can pan and tilt camera 360 degrees to follow the subject and has standard and a 3x zoom lens. Were only about $150 each. Highly recommended.

Excellent app.
Unless you are prepared to pay a continual subscription, WYZE is severly shackled.
I have several of them.
Also, their frequent firmware release always seems to break something else.
Arlo or Tapo or Reolink behave much nicer.
I have some of these too.
Definitely would not recommend WYZE.

Eufy was mentioned above. I’m 2 years into a full eufy solar and battery configuration. There are many short comings to all things eufy.

This is not topic related so I won’t expand on my experience here.

If anyone wants additional real use info about eufy - contact me directly or start a specific thread and I will respond on that thread.

Look into Reolink or Eufy cameras; very decent cameras, and no subscription required. You can have an NVR or hub to store your data.
